No question there was a lot of crap, too, but I'm pretty picky with my NES library, and I've got around 250 games, and I'm sure at least half of that are games that I actually think have redeeming qualities.
I used to feel that way. Years ago I had slowly grew a list playing with a lot of ROMS on classic emulators like always awful iNES, equally crappy Nesticle, FWNES(first do to FDS from FanWen), and a few others. Truth be told I was part of that whole scene that dumped/hacked and released the game people screw around with today. I've tried damn near everything, but even around that I had this roughly Top100 games I'd actually keep on my shelf. Years later (and after the die off of stuff) when I hit the flea out west for a few years I ballooned up to 330+. I had this realization point where I was like WTF, I think I love them, so why do I spend more time cleaning the crap off and staring at it instead of using things. I took it a bit far and offed it to a Top50 but over time got it up to 100 again (only to in the last couple years again lower it around 55 but I miss some.)
I can easily make and maintain a list of 100 that would fit, but at 50 I'd feel like I'd be doing a disservice cutting things out just as much as if I went to even 125 I'd be putting filler. the NES like SNES had a fantastic library in the day, but to think that even much over 10-15% of their library was excellent and to date aged well is overly generous.
Glad I could be of service throwing the added info and the super basic show off video so you all can try it too. I'm a chicken though, for now. I'll do this, but only after I can find a 2nd one. Just like any device you can flash, power can fail or something hiccups and you have a brick.
