Sounds like an interesting system. Here's hoping for a strong single player campaign.

Last time they promised us a single player game, we got MWO.MrPopo wrote:This is fortunately going to be single player only with no microtransactions according to the PC Gamer interview.

I doubt they would make another MechWarrior: Online. The current game is struggling as it is.fastbilly1 wrote:Last time they promised us a single player game, we got MWO.MrPopo wrote:This is fortunately going to be single player only with no microtransactions according to the PC Gamer interview.
That said that doesn't necessarily mean this will be good since it's coming from the same developer.

Merely tangential, but since the rights to the MechWarrior games and title are obviously in use again, I'm hoping the original games will make their way to GOG. Even the first DOS-based one if the later entries prove difficult to get to work with modern systems.

A GOG version of MechWarrior 3 and its expansion which worked properly on modern systems would be cataclysmicly awesome.

It's more complicated than that though. For instance I believe Activision has the rights for "MechWarrior 2" specifically. That's why they made MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries instead of calling it MechWarrior 3.Ghegs wrote:Merely tangential, but since the rights to the MechWarrior games and title are obviously in use again, I'm hoping the original games will make their way to GOG. Microsoft holds the rights to MechWarrior as a franchise but I don't know if they outright own the rights to every game in the franchise, plus the music and all of that. I hope everything is settled though because the release of a new game would be a perfect time for a re-release of the old ones.
DOS Box works great with the original and the MW:2 games and MW:3 has been hacked into a more-or-less working state for modern systems already. It's just a matter of cutting through whatever red-tape needs to be cut through to release them.
