So this is tough, and I'm still not happy with my list. I think what's here is doable, but I question whether a few would actually show up on a SNES mini-console. For instance, there are probably way too many RPGs on this list (not necessarily bad for me!), and I wonder how willing S-E would be with putting their best titles on the system. I have a feeling they might let FFII/IV go and that's about it.
I also didn't include any Super FX games. None of these are on Virtual Console, so one surmises they are stuck in a legal quagmire. Missing Yoshi's Island and Star Fox is a bummer, because they'd be a lock.
I feel like sports might be slightly underrepresented, so I included Super Tennis, which seems like a very Nintendo thing to do. I didn't include Super Play Action Football or NCAA Basketball, the former because it's not all that great, and the latter because I don't know how NCAA licensing would work with this.
This also means games like Tecmo Super Bowl and NBA Jam were out for my list. Sad!
I actually think that Final Fight would end up on here, but I don't like that version, so I went with another Capcom property, King of Dragons, instead. We could also use Final Fight 3, as it's the best of the series for sure.
Dragon View is another of my oddball picks. I love that game, and it's a great action-RPG. I'm taking it over another S-E classic, Secret of Mana, just because S-E is on overload already. Lufia II similarly.
Lots of Kirby. I'm open to pulling KDL3, but I like the inclusion of Dream Course for the mini-golf / golf niche it fills.
I didn't include the fantastic Quintet trilogy, because I don't think they've been on VC.
The rest are relatively self-explanatory, and this is one of those ones where I'd be willing to discuss what Ninty would likely do regarding some of the titles. I'm pretty sure a few of these titles would need to leave the list for something less good, but recognizable. Perhaps Capcom would make some form of Street Fighter II available, for instance. And sadly, no Killer Instinct, either.
Anyway, first pass at the list. I know I've probably missed a major title, to be honest, but I've put this off enough.
