I'm still experimenting A LOT. I feel like I just kind of keep trying paths that I haven't yet to see what I like. I think there's a lot of potential with the gremlin hacking for instance. But haven't decided if I prefer it to be a healer or a killer, y'know? There's a lot of interesting skills here though - staying concealed even after cover is blown; melee attacks; fire without it taking a turn... I have a tough time deciding between squad sight or fire-back, too. So yeah, I guess I just haven't settled on any favorite builds yet. Still just experimenting but there seems to be tons of potential for interesting builds.
my 3rd campaign is going great. I just finished the Blacksite mission. I've had no casualties yet. After this mission, I was able to up my squad to 6, as I now have a captain. In that one mission I also killed a Codex and used the Skullfang or whatever on an Advent. So I knocked out several objectives at once.
I'm just in awe with this game. I'm amazed that the bar has been raised so high above what EU/EW had already done.
Yeah, it's definitely a far better sequel than TFTD was. The Skulljack you got is also a really nice tool. If you research the Skullmining project then it will have two benefits. The first is that any soldier equipped with a Skulljack will have +25 to their hack stat. The second is that you can perform a Skulljack attack once per mission. Just like how you skullmined the Advent Captain you can use this melee attack against any of the Advent trooper classes. If you land the hit it's an instant kill and you get a hack attempt. Failing it does some damage to your soldier, but succeeding can give some intel or the location of a blacksite or possibly other rewards.

that's awesome. I figured the tool was just there for this one objective. Good to know.
I can't hate TFTD at all. It was my first X-COM game, and why I adore the series nearly 20 years later. Plus, aliens under water is just an awesome setting in my opinion. I love the concept. I genuinely hope that Fireaxis revisits TFTD's setting for an XCOM game/expansion.
so I guess I've had XCOM 2 for a week now. And I've played 18.5 hrs already.
I was thinking about how incredible this game is. How deep it is. How exciting and challenging. I know I'm not done with the campaign yet, but I have a bit of a feeling I may have to declare it better than EU/EW. In a way, EU feels so simple and quaint compared to this one. It's like everything has been improved upon or expanded here.
And then another thought struck me: I haven't even taken a look at all the Steam Workshop stuff!
