my only complaint with this game is that it takes a really long time to go through a pipe because of all the animations...and there was a stage with a lot of pipes, so yeah

Re: Yoshi Wooly World
I just don't understand what took them so long with getting a proper yoshi's island sequel out. yoshi island 2 and new yoshi island were both bland bad games, even though they had such a solid base (the original game) to work off

Branding - absolutely.Blu wrote:This is actually quite profound. I think you're right, some better branding, moving away from touch screen/second screen, and increased storage, you'd be in for a treat. Nintendo would be whistling a different tune. I still think it's my favorite console from this generation so far.8bit wrote:Yeah their 2016 lineup kinda says it all. They need to knock it out of the park with whatever console is next though so I understand them moving resources away from it.Xeogred wrote: Yeah, I feel like the U has been the most exciting Nintendo console to me since the SNES. A shame it wasn't very successful. Even Nintendo seems kind of hush hush about it lately.
Imagine if they had only named the console better, used the pro controller as the default controller, dropped the second screen/tablet idea, and maybe beefed up the console to use a standard 2.5" drive instead of flash storage. With the savings on the tablet controller they could have priced the system all at $249 at launch and by this holiday it would be only $199 with SSMB and Splatoon. I think we'd be singing a different story right now and so would Nintendo.
I'm on world 3 or 4 for yww, it's pretty amazing.
Hard drive space - agreed.
Asking them in hindsight to not do the touchscreen is changing their philosophy of innovation. They were always going to try to push things to differentiate themselves.
That said, the more first party games that work with just the pro controller the better.

I 100% see where you are coming from on this. However Nintendo themselves have said that when they were developing the touchpad controller it felt very innovative but by the time it got launched ipads, androids, and other tablets were already so cheap and so widespread that it simply didn't make the splash they intended. Had they had a little more foresight or market research data to see that this would be the case, maybe they could have saved the headache and simply gone back to basics, used the awesome pro controller instead (plus keeping option wii remote montion control options) and saved themselves the added costs of the tablet. $249 instead of $349 would have been very compelling in the early days of the consoles life.

I actually keep watching a bit more of this on youtube... and I really want this game now.
I've been getting platformer cravings this past year or two and I like it.
Is Kirby and the Rainbow Curse a bit more gimmicky? Guess I'm wondering which you guys would lean towards between these two.

Dude believe me this game is really worth buying. It even has multiplayer....which it calls co-op, but it's more competetive....like, who gets to fuck over the other more xD

Re: Yoshi Wooly World
So while we focused on finding all the yarns to make all the Yoshis, we went back to get all the sunflowers when we found you needed all 40 (8 levels x 5 in each of course) to access level 1-S. And let me tell you, that level is crazy. We used badges (infinite watermelon seeds and bounce back when you fall into pits) and after a number of attempts got all the yarn and flowers in that level also.
Just a great piece of co-op gaming, and we've only finished the first world.

Re: Yoshi Wooly World
1-S is that hard?
anyway, it's nice that you get something for all sunflowers. what do you get if you get 100% on all the levels?

Re: Yoshi Wooly World
It's frantic if you're trying to get everything, plus running co-op so youre in the way of each other at the same time. It's a waterfall stage where they all keep going up and down. If you time it right, you can float with yoshi until it comes back. It's thumb-pounding for sure. Lot of fun.
Re: Yoshi Wooly World
If you could only get one for now, would you go with this, or Mario Maker?
Re: Yoshi Wooly World
I want this game so bad, but don´t have time/money to get right now! Maybe January!
