Since the only thing I put in my burritos is rice, meat, and cheese, I give the nod to Qdoba since they have that queso sauce they'll put in and get this gooey burrito.

I kinda do too. Sometimes I put recaito (a cilantro/msg broth base) in my chili. My wife does a lot of great stuff with it as well. Too bad some folks taste it as soapy. I can see why, but it doesn't bother me.

Both are bad but in a pinch I'll take Qdoba. I like the ancho-chili bbq sauce they have mixed with their hottest salsa (no idea what it's called) well enough.

Obviously I can't help Mike or others around the country, but for the Texans and Houstonians at least, yeah, Freebirds or Bullritos is the way to go.

Apparently there's a certain gene that controls whether cilantro is nice or tastes like bitter soap.

My favorite Mexican place got shut down by the Health Department last year and sadly never reopened. Having worked in foodservice I knew how bad it must have been to be forced to close, and according to the local news, it was worse. Luckily tried another place down the road from there and it was excellent, and for piece of mind it helps the kitchen is in full view of the lobby as it's more of a take out joint.

Anyway, never tried Qdoba, but always been satisfied with Chipolte. Not tried anything beyond burritos, and sure i'd like to pay less, but never felt ripped off or unsatisfied with the quality of food or portions.

BROTHER!

Yeah I'm in the "Don't particularly like Mexican food" camp, other than a basic rice/meat/cheese burrito or a meat/cheese quesadilla occasionally... but I do get cravings for one of those 2 from time to time.

Anyway I have nothing else to contribute here, we have no Qdoba in my area and because it's such a rare craving for me I've never bothered to eat at one while travelling.

I do like me some Chipotle from time to time though.

do you actually have these places near you, or are you going into a town that would have these options...and others?

I live in canada, and all the mexican franchises I've tried are very far from being anything remotely mexican, or good. Not to say there aren't good mexican food restaurants, but they're few and far between. A double beef burrito at Taco-Time here consists of rice.
But, I gotta say I love Chipotle (even made my own last year). I really wish the restaurant was picked up here.

What I'm really trying to say is I can't recommend enough this new product called Chipotlaway - completely removes all the blood stains!

At least we can all say these places are 10x better than going to Taco Bell, that's the furthest thing from mexican food that you can get and literally makes me sick just thinking of it because i'm not even sure the "beef" in the beef tacos is even cow or anything remotely close...
