The US release IS the superior version. I like my R-Types with checkpoints, and my Contras with 1-hit death.

If I could only have one game (and not allowing something like the 6 Pak) I would pick Toejam and Earl. Randomly generated levels would give the game a ton of value, and if I ever happen across someone ELSE on this deserted island, we would be set. On a bad day, the music and virtual high-five may be the only thing keeping my sanity in check.

Hah dunpeal that's what I was thinking, it's why I asked about the 6pak then put my stand alone choice of Dune since it has lots of replay value and variances in it.

Maybe distorting the question a little but I would pick Aerobiz or Starflight because I own both but haven't really played them much. I also imagine they have decent replay value. Aerobiz is the only one of the two I've played so far but I liked it quite a bit being a simulation fan.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the masterpiece of the Genesis. If I could only play one game (not counting multi-carts obviously) it would be Sonic 2.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Like a couple of you have already, I would also say Sonic 3 and Knuckles. However, I kinda feel like that's cheating because its 2 carts.

So that's my pick, but if it must be cut down to one cart for the sake of argument, I'd make it Sonic 3.
