Pretty sure, yeah.

You still get the trophies and things, but the pop up notifications can be turned off in the settings, at least on PS3.

I turned those off the day the update happened that made it possible. :)

I think they're interesting. I can see why people wouldn't like them and I definitely find rewarding players for doing something that's nearly automatic to be ridiculous. But, at times it can add interest to the game being played.

If there's a game I enjoyed, missing achievements/trophies/stickers/badges/Accomplishments/etc can be an easy motivation to get me going back.

I noticed today the PSN Trophies are now split into sub categories if the game has DLC. The DLC trophies are no longer listed with the main game. At least when viewed on a PSV.

They can add something enjoyable. But, I don't understand players who will play something they hate to get achievements. That makes no sense to me. It's akin to needing to have the number 1 score on all the games in the arcade or something. Sounds more like a problem than something to be enjoyed.

The way I kind of see it is this. Why do I need the game to tell me I did a good job? Why do I have to be spoon fed what is a cool thing to do? Do I really need some auto-notification thing just for shameless digital bragging to rub all over the internet? No. I did just fine kicking the shit out of old Nintendo games in the 80s and 90s, arcade games too, and I didn't need pop up boxes like obtrusive web flash ads showing up to give me a gold star. If I have to be told that I did something cool, that I got X far into a game, or whatever else then I probably am not enjoying the game enough if I need that boost to keep going.

I think they are much more than digital bragging rights and being the 'cool thing to do.'

Some can use it as extra personal challenges and goals in addition to the main goals of the game to achieve.

I agree.

With how much optional content can be in modern games, having a checklist that can push players to explore more is good. They also give the more accessible modern games a way to present a "real" challenge for those seeking one. Not like it's entirely new - Metroid's different endings based on time, collected upgrades, etc is similar.

I think the easy ones are there mostly to establish the system for the player.

Personally, I don't tend to go too far out of my way to get them, and tend to be satisfied with simply rolling the credits on most games. However, I think they're a solid thing to have available.

I don't care about them or go out of my way to achieve one but It is cool to hear that ding and see what I did to unlock it. If I'm ever super bored I'll go on PSN Profiles and look at rare trophies I've unlocked to kill time.

I find the Goals in The Pinball Arcade to be quite satisfying, especially the "Wizard" (harder) goals. They're usually for stuff that's difficult to do or require a high level of skill and/or timing to pull off.

Same here. Finishing the game should be more than enough. I really wish I could just straight up disable trophies. I will never go out of the way to get one.
