I have a Sony Wega 4:3 HD CRT, It is model number KV-32HS500.

Extremely heavy compared to even a regular CRT of the same size, 200 you gotta be kidding pounds! Retro games do look a lot better on CRT vs LCD. Because it is an HD which is a 120hz older light guns won't work. There is no VGA connection, No House of the Dead on Dreamcast. When using a light gun (using composite and also S-video; Dreamcast supports VGA and scart-RGB no component) the gun does flash the screen but sight on the screen tends to wander due to looking for 50-60hz signal. I'm thinking about a VGA to Component transcoder but due to cost and unsure of it working have held off. I do know a direct VGA to Component cable only results in a purple off center screen. Even tried switching the red-blue-green Y-Pb-Pr cables around.

If you have a HD CRT with direct VGA input along with the Dreamcast VGA box the light gun will work.

For those HD CRT's that don't have VGA input:
Has anyone have any luck with Dreamcast VGA box - VGA transcoder to Component - Dreamcast Lightgun - HD CRT?

Consoles owned can-you-say-I'm-slightly-Game-OCD:
Arcadia 2001, 5200 Centipede with Trakball!, Atari 7800, 2 can-you-believe-$20-at-swap-meet Vectrex, N64 Yes CONKER BAD FUR!, PS1, Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, Gamecube with Gameboy Player Wario Ware very cool on big screen, PS2, Kids have PSP, PS3 and Wii.

Computers owned don't laugh:
Apple II+, Vic-20, Texas Instruments TI-99/4A, Timex Sinclair, C64, Educator 64, SX64, C-128D, imac G3, and Athlon PC, again kids have newer machines Apple and Sony laptops.

I just confirmed that Dreamcast lightguns do work on a CRT VGA monitor!

Seems to follow that maybe a VGA input CRT HD TV might also work?

Its not going to work. CRTs have a gun that fires to trace the screen. This is what old light guns use to figure out their position. LCD/Plasma TVs do not create the image by scanning in this way. :(

I mean the Dreamcast lightgun on a CRT HD TV with VGA input or Component to VGA transcoder.

Anyone try this?

Actually my mistake I added CRT to clarify, thanks.

Anyone else? Dreamcast Lightgun to CRT HD TV?

I did an extensive article on link below, anyone having ideas please add to it:

It depends on the refresh rate of the screen. Any higher than 60hz and it won't work properly, intermittently at best.

A little side note.

I have a PS2 Guncon 2 that does offer 480p mode. Seems that requires at least a CRT Enhanced (EDTV) Definition TV, which I believe most are at 100mhz. As far as I can tell through Sony Specs my CRT Wega is a 120 mhz something to do with their proprietary DCR / Cinemotion scan.

I have ordered official Sony AV adapter and expect it soon.
Though not optomistic I'll let everyone know if the Guncon 2 with Sony Time Crisis AV Adaptor works on my CRT HD. I will post results on below link at my signature.
