Just gave this a shot and nothing comes up, even with the SD card loaded in. Now, is the Wii picky about what kind of SD card is used? I'm trying it with a 4GB SDHC card. Also, do you have a spare Wifi module laying around by chance that you'd want to sell me for a few bucks?

Edit: looks like Wii didn't natively support SDHC. Can you instead boot from a usb drive using priiloader instead of the SD card?

i believe it is picky , best use 1-2GB as mentioned on the WIIhacks Softmod Tutorial

i do have 2 but prefer to keep them for my own WII's , even though the shipping from Australia would suck and make the project costs sky rocket.

from memory you mentioned you have another WII , best pull that WIFI Module and see if the broken WII will boot.

i think Nintendo implemented SDHC in later firmwares , and no to the second part

Unfortunately, the other Wii is at my parents house that I left for my nephew so I don't have access to it. I'm planning on just trying to scalp a cheap, fully working Wii off eBay and that way I have a working console AND a working wifi module to then test with my currently broken Wii. I thought I had a 2GB non SDHC card around, but I remembered that it's in the other Wii, with Project M loaded on it.

Update:
I just received a working wii and put the working Wifi card into the broken unit. It will now boot up to the safety and warning screen but freezes shortly after. So I get AV now at least. Any idea what could cause the freezing at the warning screen?
