Does the lock-on work with bundled Sonic games, or only the discrete carts?

It works with all sonic carts from what I know. Why is there anything different in those roms?

I think he means stuff where more than one game is on the same cart like the 6-Pak. I'm pretty sure it just boots up a blue sphere game when you insert a compilation cartridge.

ah. yes I tried that as a kid, didn't work xD.....then again I was trying it with a cart that had Sonic 1 instead of Sonic2/3 so I don't know what I was thinking.....oh yeah didn't speak English back then, so I couldn't read the manual

I honestly have very little knowledge of this game, though Sonic 3 is my cherished title in the series. Since Sonic 3 introduced the save feature finally, I could go through and play at my own pace. That and the soundtrack, special stages, and power ups made the gameplay for me much more enjoyable.

I will definitely give it some exploration, and copies aren't that expensive! Thanks for the great write-up, ZeroAX!

oh man you don't know what you are missing. I would tell you to check a let's play of the game, but then you'll be spoiled of some awesome set pieces, so just buy the game already :D. And when you lock it into sonic 3 you can use the save feature for both games, so don't worry about it becoming too long :D

If you like Sonic 3 you're in for an awakening. Sonic & Knuckles is essentially the final half of Sonic 3.
