Last year got pretty stressful. There were so many nominations that got similar numbers of votes it was hard to declare a clear winner.

not really. It was basically the bloodbath, but after weeks of bickering there were polls put up to finally settle a handful of sticking points. This was after some folks got sick of the bickering and left the discussion altogether.

this thread got quiet.

I vote we make a poll to see how much longer this poll should run.

I was going to let it go for a week or so, to get as many opinions as we could. Right now Hybrid is winning out.

Hypothetically, lets say hybrid wins. Would yall prefer months based on genres or companies?

Examples:
January is Sega Month so chose between:
1. Super Hang-On
2. Zillion
3. Shining in the Darkness

Or January is racer month so choose between:
1. Daytona USA
2. Final Lap Twin
3. Super Sprint

I think genres would be the easiest for this. And it fits the pattern we've done in years past.

Yeah, I'd go with genres as well. Companies is either too broad (Sega games) or too narrow (Infocom becomes the text adventure genre without any other entries).

Genres works well. I think companies would end up being a bit limiting.

I voted list cause I think a small group of people can come up with more surprising/unique games than a large group which would just vote for the most popular games.
