Yeah, I knew when I was writing the thread that "remake" wasn't the best word, but didn't think to use "remaster" which is the best choice.

I've actually been meaning to check them out. Can I download them to my phone so that I can listen on the way to work?

I read somewhere that you weren't the biggest fan of the way they handed X2 on the Vita

That is what inspired this thread. I've read that The Last of Us is going to be ported, as well as the Metro series. Also, we already have Tomb Raider.

I really like the remasters. As long as they are handled correctly I can see them being a great way to play games that you missed or those that you haven't played in a while.

Here are the ones that I have:

Metal Gear Solid
Ratchet and Clank
Team ICO
Devil May Cry
Sly Cooper Collection
Zelda Wind Waker HD
FFX/X2
Beyond Good and Evil
Munch's Odyssey

Here are the ones that I plan to get:

Resident Evil 4 HD (2014)
Tomb Raider Definitive Edition
The Last of Us
Metro Collection
Oddworld New and Tasty
Killzone Trilogy
Kingdom Hearts 1.5
Zone of Enders

Here are the ones that I hope get made:

Most Nintendo Franchises from GCN and Wii
Halo 2 Anniversary
Final Fantasy XII
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Fatal Frame 1,2,3
Onimusha 1,2,3, Dawn of Dreams

What are some other games that you all would like to see remastered?

I only really go for HD remakes if I don't already have the game. I never played the Zone of the Enders games but always wanted to so I was excited when that remake came out.

It would be really sick if Onimusha got an HD remake with a modern control scheme.

I have a few of these remakes/remasters/etc. I like the idea a lot as long as they are handled well.

Halo CE Anniversary and Fable Anniversary are good examples of what I look for. New graphics engine, not just up res-ed and pushed out.

The Metal Gear Solid collection for the Xbox 360 seems to be up res-ed but is fantastic. I have the limited edition of that one. I also got it on the Vita that only came with parts 2 and 3.

I have Resident Evil 4 on XBLA and it looks great but some textures are not so hot.

Wind Waker HD is a fantastic example of how beautiful cel-shading can be in full HD with all that lighting.

Jet Set Radio still looks the same but cleaned up a bit for HD and cel-shading holds up very nicely. Have it on PC (it was $5), Xbox 360 (again it was $5), Vita and PS3 ($10 and cross buy). It's excessive I know but I love that game!

If I had (or when I get) an HD/Widescreen/LCD TV. I might get more excited about the Remakes. For now, I still use the older stuff, so it's not an issue for me.

Part of me prefers to play a game in its original home format though. I think I'll stick with my PS2 copies of FFX and Ratchet and Clank collections.
Having the freedom to put my PS2/Xbox games on a Hard Drive is also a big advantage that affects my opinion on the matter (and there are ways to make some of those HD and Widescreen with a bit of work, but again, I have little reason to do that right now).

Complete remakes are a general exception. Let's say they remade Crystalis for 3DS (complete graphical overhaul), for example; I'd be all over that. Then again, portable remakes are a whole separate category.

Oddly, I haven't been overly excited about Duck Tales Remastered...

Adding a better design for a game would definitely get my attention. Improve the experience on a gameplay level makes it worth a fresh release of a good game.

Finally, I'll admit to enjoying the graphically cleaned-up version of Ocarina of Time on the Gamecube. So there is at least a part of me that likes the proverbial "fresh coat of paint".

Have you seen the remake on the 3DS? They redid the presentation and it looks significantly better than any re-release of that game before it. I do hope that they can provide the same treatment to Majora's Mask.

That's another game that I forgot to add to my list of remasters that I own.

Yep, own that one too. Just the fact that it was a good portable version of the game (with master quest, no less) made it a must have for me. Visuals are very pretty indeed.

I started a game and played through Dodongo's Cavern, but wasn't ready for a full playthrough yet.
Also, I'm trying to play through in 3D mode, which is fun, but my eyes are only up to it in smaller game sessions.

Somewhat random:
I vow to buy any system that has a US re-release for Shining Force III Trilogy (hopefully with unlockable bonus disc). I'm keeping my Saturn in virgin state, so no mod chips/burned translations for me. I want a full-fledged port of the games.
I'll play through the original games via guides one day if I have to, but seriously, why hasn't this been done yet?

Word is this can't happen because Capcom doesn't have the old assets along with / or something to do with the first two games having mostly pre-rendered backgrounds so aspect ratio and resolution would be a big problem there.
