Was talking about this stuff once with one of my Japanese co-workers and she was so confused. "You guys just threw away the boxes your games came in? What the hell?"

I Burned all my SNES game box's in the fire place, this included but not limited to:

FF3
Super Mario RPG
Legend of Zelda: alttp
DKC 1 and 2
Yoshi's Island
Zombies ate my neighbors
Star Fox
Super Metroid

This also included some N64 game box's im sure. We kept all the manuals though.

I blame my brother, it was his idea :x

Yeah I played Asassin's Creed last night for over an hour, and managed to accomplish nothing. If you're giving me an hour long tutorial, might as well teach me how to pick pocket while you're at it.

"Feeling bad about the games that damaged me as a child" should be saved for a totally new thread.

Don't think of them as investments at all. Considering a manufactured product as an investment will backfire 99% of the time, especially since the 90s.

Puurrrrrrrrrty much. About your only outside chance at realistically thinking of them as an investment is Neo Geo, and even then I think we're near peak price, I can't imagine actually making serious money. Get out what you put in, sure, but unlikely to make much if any.

I don't have the boxes to my NES games or N64 games. All of my Genesis games are in impeccable condition. I was encouraged to take very good care of them by my parents. Even the cardboard ones are in pretty good shape. 32X games got some damage from moving over the years, but that's moreso because of our military movers.

Overall though, I appreciate The Cover Project, as it's given my N64 games some loving and the plastic is much more sturdier than the cardboard ever would be. I'm not too concerned about collector's value as I'll never sell them.
