No!! YT just won't be the same without Awesome Mark and his "journalistic reviews" :(

Seriously though, I feel for the folks that rely on YT for a living. That sucks majorly to be bullied in this way and have to put up with that type of crap.

The most ridiculous flag he got was for his interview with the TR devs. TR themselves supposedly flagged him. I'm no lawyer but a interview you conduct is generally considered your intercultural property. AFAIR it didn't even have any TR related music or gameplay.

Not to mention the NSA.
I thought he said in his video that Square Enix said they were not making any claims on their end? I might be wrong though.

But anyway, I practically only go to Youtube for video game related stuff. Occasional reviews, and lot's of Let's Player's. A lot of them have started making their living's from Youtube, and if they have to stop making video's now then that's gonna suck majorly.
Yeah, god forbid they have to get jobs like the rest of us

Put me in the "Thank God" column. I hate "Here's a game" videos and I'm glad they'll be wiped off the map. Rarely with any insight and never with any intelligence, I abhor 99% of the video game "reviews" online.

Your typical review is "Here's the game and it sucks. Why? Because". That or "This game is awesome. Why? Because". I'd much rather play a game than watch some asshat play it and criticize it without explaining what criteria they use. It's always "This sucks" or "This is awesome" and that's about it.

Plus there is this thing called Terms of Service. A free service at that.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

i actually agree with Luke on this one. it sucks that the good channels are suffering but there are way too many AWFUL, PAINFUL TO WATCH video game reviews on youtube.

i always wanted to do a "30-second review" series but this new TOS won't really allow that, so oh well.

Maybe, but this is also leading to videos like longplays being taken down, which tend to involve just straight gameplay and are interesting for reference purposes. Video walkthroughs and tutorials will also go, as will segments of individuals discussing the collecting aspect, such as our own MetalJesus and his hidden gems discussions. They might not all be professional quality, and some are downright terrible, sure, but that doesn't mean we should get rid of all videos featuring gameplay. And where does Fair Use come into this?

There's a lot of awful, painful to watch everything on Youtube. It's the downside of anyone with the time and inclination to film something being able to upload it. No different, really, from anyone that feels like it being able to throw a website or blog up. In theory the ratings would sort things out.

Personally, I like having stuff like Lets Plays up there. I'm not usually inclined to actually sit and watch the whole things like some folks I know, but having that footage out there to reference if/when it's relevant is nice.

I am pretty much 95% sure this decision will be reversed and it will come from something that has nothing to do with videogamers and their YT plights.

It's a simple argument of wide sweeping changes brought on by big corporations, introduced on hastily with no real warning, greatly affecting huge target audiences/demographics negatively, gets worldwide backlash then completely retreats from it's original policy to be "more understanding".

Where have we seen this before? Maybe some kinda known company...the one that makes MS Paint...right?

"I don't like it so I'm glad it and everything even remotedly like it even stuff I have never ever heard of is gone" is a terrible thing to think. It's a childish argument and you know that, Luke.

Of course, if something you liked like Stand Up Comedy or Sports were on the line we would be hearing your rants from outer space.
