Even though i always wish that Sega still made hardware, i wouldn't want them to get back into the hardware business for mainly two reasons.
1st- IMO i think this next console generation will be the last console generation. At least what we consider a "traditional" console. In 8 to 10 years i think
most content will be digital. Most games will be accessed through a service(like steam). Now i could be totally wrong on this, but that's where i see the industry is headed.
2nd- And the most important reason was already said.

Jmenglan hit the nail right on the head, Sega is nothing like it was from the 90's. With the exception of Atlus, they don't have the talent to make good first party titles anymore.(Well neither does Microsoft, but they have lots of money and just buy exclusives

I wish old school Sega never went out of business and was still making hardware. But the reality is there not, and most likely they never will.
It will just continue to be a dream(tear).
