I'm actually pretty sore I missed it. Forgot all about it, mostly because I don't care a whole lot about a game between Toronto and Detroit, normally. In watching the highlights, it seems like they did everything right for the event. Football fields are definitely the way to go, and the big house may as well be the Superdome/Coliseum. Throwback uniforms were great, and I especially liked the knitted hat on the Toronto goalie.

I hear LA is going to be hosting an outdoor game in Dodger's Stadium soon, and I can't imagine that would be nearly as good—

Edit: Although, now that I think about it, I realize that I couldn't have really seen it because I was working when it would have been on yesterday; so, bummer.

Does he have any penalty minutes for fighting majors? What's his average time on ice? If he's a right-shot, maybe they should try moving him over to the left side.

So surprising no one, the Sabres suck this year... And moving on from that news flash, I wanna gather some draft thoughts from some of the more able NHL aficionados here.

The Sabres traded Vanek to the Islanders for their first round pick. As you may know, when a first round pick is dealt, the team trading it has the one-time option to 'defer that pick to the following years draft' for the team acquiring that pick.

Now assuming that is is highly likely that these two clubs will be in the running for the top overall pick both this year and probably next year...
And then assuming that the Isles win the lottery top overall pick and have a real hard-on for Sam Reinhart THIS year (because they are the Islanders, don't question it)...
Also assuming that next year they are statistically probable to ALSO win that next lottery pick because that organization is a dumpster fire, and are forced to give it to the Sabres because of the top pick trading rule (assuming the league lottery isn't completely rigged- looking at you Pittsburgh -_- )...

What are the odds that the Isles are stupid enough to hand Connor McDavid to the Sabres on a silver platter, for the low low cost of a partial year rental player in a non-playoff run?

Everything is cyclical in sports these days. Enjoy your time at the top, it will end eventually and the Sabres will eventually be that team at the top, of that I am confident. (Of the cursed Bills, not so much...)

Don't expect any sympathy from me when the Bruins finally tank, deal into some bad contracts and finally whiff in free agency
