Yeah, you're def right man. I hope I didnt come off as saying either of those things, I was just wondering the reasoning behind only 3 systems.

It's easier if your a woman and love games...men go crazy over you then lol. Happily my man loves gaming as much as I do, maybe even more. But i'm the console gamer...he's a PC gamer, which I am too...but I also do consoles.

Anyways back on topic. That's a tough one...I wouldn't be able to do it lol. Well i'll try to do it...I don't count the PC even though thats mainly what I use to game, but it does other things. And handhelds I don't count because they are small so you can have a ton of them -.-...

My N64 since I love that system to death.

I want to say NES because that is like the best system ever, so easy to fix and easy to get games for...but idk. Maybe Gamecube...hard to pick this one. I think I'll say Gamecube. If only because it has Kirby Air Ride on it and some other good games that are some of my fav games ever.

Finally my PS3 not because I like it but because it plays PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, so like 3 systems in one and DVD/Blu Ray player!

Damn that was hard...and i'm not doing it for real...I feel for ya man.

Well, I don't think she necessarily has to like games as well. I just feel that a good wife/girlfriend should at least let their man enjoy his hobby without getting in the way if she knows it makes him happy. My wife doesn't game outside of 4 games (Donkey Kong Country, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Snake, and the whack-a-mole mini-game on New Super Mario Bros. DS), but she still has no problem with me and my game collecting (as well as comic collecting, the ONLY comic she reads is Johnny the Homicidal Maniac).

Yeah a "good" wife/girlfriend but hey how likely will you find one? Yes some women are ok with their mans hobby but a lot of others are just...rhymes with witches. A lot of women HATE gaming for some odd reason (and when they find out I game...woo they start asking if I swing for the other team, they think it's "unlady like"). While I don't think playing on a DS even counts as gaming...I do like her choice in comic...I love JTHM <3.

WHAT? That makes no sense. Where is the reasoning that makes playing a DS not count as gaming?

PC
PSP/Vita.
3DS (backwards compatible with DS library)
Maybe replace PSP with a handheld that's built for emulators?

PS2/PS2 compatible PS3, MD/Genesis+CD+32X+Master System player and SNES+Gameboy player are nice choices too (even gamecube with the gameboy player), but given that you can emulate everything on your PC and buy many modern 360/Xbone/PS3/PS4 games for your PC too, there's really no point in getting a console. Handhelds on the other hand are necessary for gaming outside the house (and within the house in the rooms that don't have gaming devices in them, like WC :P ). If I had to choose a console, I'd probably stick with Saturn, or Neo Geo if I had a big collection/multicart, though I naturally have the most games for PS2 when you count in all the PS1 and PS2 games I own.

PS4, 3DS, Vita. Why all newer consoles/portables? WiiU if possible too. Why? Because they'll get plenty of retro games too. :P Advantage of virtual console and download services in general. I also said PS4 because of its' PS3 and older streaming services. No idea yet if that'll be any good.

Wow I leave for a couple hours and the thread blows up lol! To anyone wondering I do not take any offense to anything said and I do appreciate the posts saying not to defame my fiancé.

It is true that my significant other is not a fan of video games. I've tried but it really isn't her thing. Now the situation with the "pick 3 systems" has been 2 years in the making. On top of not having as much time, my 'hobbies' take up a lot of the house and the entire garage, so myself losing some games is not a huge loss in the long run of things.

I'm leaning on keeping my NES also. Too many memories and its an instant favorite when friends come over.

Oh I get it now, it makes sense if your taking up the whole house  . Maybe its just me, but the OP made it seem like it was just one room.

Maybe you could keep all of your systems in a box in the garage, and three inside plugged in. I don't think she would mind if you had one box with some systems in it stored away in the garage.
