So I got a couple packages today, courtesy of UPS. Mostly new games, but also some accessories.

The games, if you're interested. Spoilered if you're not:
Arc Rise Fantasia
Lost in Shadow
The Last Story
Sin and Punishment
Pandora's Tower
Metroid: Other M
Fragile Dreams

Next I plan to pick up some Gamecube games, and maybe Cursed Mountain.

Now I've got another question. I got a classic controller pro (Black of course ;D), but how exactly do I use it? I can see it plugs in to the Wii remote, but will the compatible games just automatically recognize it or do I have to switch it on or something?

Games will automatically recognize it, the same way they recognize whether you have a nunchuck, etc attached to the wii mote.

Also, you can use the left stick, A and B buttons of the Classic Controller on the Wii menu.

I can recommend:

Sin and Punishment - Very cool game. Unique, intense game play, only possible with motion control.
Pandora's Tower - You've heard all about it.
Lost in Shadow - platformer with cool ambiance
Centipede Infestation - More like Robotron than Centipede
Fatal Frame IV - fan translation and pricey, but supposed to be great if you've played it
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - Better than MvC3 if you ask me.
Sakura Wars - if you like dating games.

You can't really go wrong with the Wii considering there's 100% (I think?) backwards compatibility with Gamecube software, so you get to double up on your library with one machine.

A lot of the top-tier games are pretty much upgrades of the originals, but are the best versions of that type of game IMO and are fresh enough to give the whole premise another run.

DKCR > DKC 1,2,3, DK64
Mario Galaxy 1,2 > 64, Sunshine
SSB Brawl > Original, Melee
Mario Kart Wii > Double Dash, 64, SNES
Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess > Ocarina, MM, WW

Now bring on the tidal wave of disagreements!

I personally preferred Ocarina to Twilight Princess, but both are good and Twilight Princess has some really great atmosphere.

I agree with DKCR over the other DKCs.

I think Galaxy 2 is probably the best 3D mario, I think 64 was better than Galaxy 1.

Brawl is a good game, but not as good as Melee. Can't even combo in Brawl and it's too slow paced and not that dynamic.

Mario Kart Wii isn't really better than the previous Mario Karts. Its online play is the only thing going for it really, other than that it's pretty uninspired and possibly more imbalanced than some previous versions (I hate the bullet bill power up with a passion). I think if a game like Doubledash had online, it'd probably be rated higher. Plus the DS version of Mario Kart had good multiplayer and was probably better.

I can kinda see where you're coming from with some of those, but this? I don't think so, Tim.

About Mario Galaxy...

I didn't enjoy 64. At least not enough to finish it. I thought Sunshine was okay, and managed to finish that one (The non-flood sections were the most fun for me).

So, perhaps with a bout of masochism, I figure I'll give one of the Galaxy games a shot. So which one should I start with? I know that G2 introduced Yoshi, but I actually don't like Yoshi so if there's any sections where you're forced to ride him that would be a negative imo. Also are either of them compatible with the classic controller?

I dont like Yoshi at all, but he isn't a hindrance to the game. Most levels you can't use Yoshi and his mechanics in a 3D environment work a bit differently than in the 2D games.
