While the market as a whole has increased in prices, certain platforms such as SNES have basically doubled in price over the past few years. It might not be the best system to start building a collection with if you're turning to online sites.

IMO, Genesis games are still the most obtainable for a reasonable price (excluding rares such as musha, etc).

Check out other online stores such as GOAT (Games of All Types). Dan who runs that site is a good guy. Or Best Electronics for Atari items. Good people also. These are really only known about by community members.
I love sega so I am not just limited to NES/SNES.. I have heard sega genny games are still affordable. I am open to dreamcast of course but I never see these games nor do I see sega cd/saturn games too much. Not like you see NES/SNES

So I found this bundle for 75.. At first I thought it was a good deal but not sure now. The SNES prices on carts seems to vary greatly...I figure I buy the bundle and sell the SNES..
Zelda : A link to the past, Super Punch Out, Super Smash TV, Super Castelvaina IV, Mortal Kombat 1 & 2, Home Alone, F15 Strike Eagle, & Donkey Kong Country. Also I have the Snes system with 1 controler and av cable, all it needs is the power cord.

My advice is to keep hitting the bricks, you'll find something if you search long enough. I recommend hitting yard sales and smaller 1-day flea markets run by churches and charity groups, in my experience these places have the best deals/finds.

That said, it does pay to get to these things at start time or even earlier. One tiny flea market I attended had every NES game for sale bought before the event even opened, so earliness pays off.

One other tip is to always ask at yard sales if the homeowner has any old video games they'd be willing to sell. Most of the time they'll say no, but you might luck out with a homeowner going back into the house and coming out with an NES lot.

My personal strategy is to scan craigslist once a day looking for new yard sale postings within 10 miles of my home and add them to my phone's calender. By the end of the week I'll have about a dozen listings lined up. I then look at the listings and work out which ones are grouped closest together that I can hit in rapid succession. While I'm driving, I keep an eye out for signs for additional yard sales. I can hit about 10-20 yard sales in about a two hour period. Some weeks I come away with nothing or a single game that stuck my interest, other weeks I come home with tons of great stuff.

So I ended up getting a pretty decent score for a good price. I got a SNES Mini with 9 games. Quite a few AAA titles. Zelda Link to the past, Super castlevania IV, Donkey Kong, Super Punch Out, Mario Kart, Super smash TV. Plus a few other lesser titles. All this for 75.00 dollars. I plan to de yellow the mini SNES and sell it for 60 bucks. So in the end I paid 15 for all those awesome games.

Anyone know where to get a good s-video cable that isn't 90 dollars. Or how to build one. I hear the 5 dollar ones are crap.

I have not once ever seen a cart based game at a thrift store. Sometimes a old xbox game or ps2 or pc but thats about it.

Feel like either giving up in my area once there are no more deals at flea markets and garage sales. But then one craiglist ad "old video Games" pops up and they just want the stuff gone. I just takes time and patience for these deals to show up.

I mean SNES connector to svideo. Not just a regular svideo cable. I hear the china SNES svideo cables are really bad and not true svideo.
