I say invest in the Virtual Console with what is available on the Virtual Console. I agree that it is a lot of fun to play on the gamepad anywhere. The miiverse is what does it for me honestly. I love the community and social aspect of that system that it makes using it fun and entertaining.
Plus, any virtual console games on your original wii can be carried over to the WiiU and actually playable on the game for a small nominal fee. (I think it is roughly on the dollar for most titles, a bit more N64 I think)

Thanks for all the input guys. I will probably purchase certain VC games in the future that catch my immediate interest. GBA games on the gamepad seems like a perfect fit as well, so I'll probably get quite a few of them. Now if they were to compile VC games in a nice collector's package like Kirby's Dream Collection then that'd be pretty sweet. Earthbound and Metroid please?
