I already own a Wii U so I have to cross that off my list.

I am almost positive that I will pick up a PS4 on or around launch; however, this is still dependent on more details. I know they have mentioned what they plan to do with used games and the "always online." I still need a little more reassurance especially after the Xbox One reveal.

At this point, I have no interest in the Xbox One and I probably never will. I think Microsoft is just bending over ignorant consumers. I will not have any part of their quest to control the second hand market or allow them to have an always on camera in my home that is "required" for the Xbox One to operate.

Sony has a very good opportunity to take this market again but I'm fearful that Sony will find their own creative way to screw that up. In addition, Sony might have an interesting battle with publishers since they are very much interested in the bottom line. I know EA and Activision are all for Microsoft charging full price for used games as long as they get their cut. On the other hand, Sony has amassed talented studios as well as established and excellent exclusive franchises that offer the edge to Sony over Microsoft.

Nintendo is doing their own thing as always and I can appreciate that. It is nice to play something different once in a while. For that reason alone, the Wii U is a decent investment for me even if it isn't used as much in my home.

One thing is for sure, it will be a very interesting generation but not one I am particularly excited about.

Just stay a generation behind. By the time the Xbox Two comes out, hackers will have figured out how to replace Xbox live with a dummy server, at least for single player games.

I have a whole bunch of consoles ranging from Famicom to Xbox 360 that I'm still acquiring games for and the equipment to play real arcade games. Never did get a PS3 even though I meant to. Current-gen gaming hasn't been that interesting and after MS's presentation I have even less incentive to even consider the next generation of consoles. A good portion of the games will be getting PC ports anyway, so I'd rather just use that for the few modern games that catch my fancy while keeping my pre-Internet connectivity consoles, the ones that are 100% about running games and not trying to be everything some marketing exec has decided I need in my living room, for supplying me with my gaming fix.

I am a grumpy old man. Get off my lawn.

I appreciate how Nintendo seems to keep their focus on the gaming part and I did have fun trying out the Wii U at a friend's house, but it's not a system I want to own myself. The majority of my gaming happens solo and as of yet there's not one single player game on the system that interests me. And I've never been that big a fan of Nintendo's first-party games so I don't need to pick it up for the latest Zelda and Mario.

I don't want a WiiU. It does not interest me at all. I hated the Wii. Sorry, I'm still not a believer in waggle controls. Ive had a virtual console since 1997 when I discovered Zophar.net so I don't need that on any system. Plus, I can have english translations for stuff like Seiken Densestsu III, Star Ocean, and so on. This sounds jaded, but the last really great console Nintendo ever released was 16 bit, square, blue/grey and had a big grey 'EJECT' button on it.

XboxOne: the only thing I even know about it is that it looks like a VCR, which doesn't bother me. Its black, stackable and looks 'adult' and like it belongs in an entertainment system. Now that Ive read bout DRM, always on, ads on the main screen, no used games - it's an even bigger pass for me. Lemme know when it's hacked, k? Maybe I'll buy one then. I can access my Netflix/Amazon subs for free on my TV, notebook, iPad, BluPlayer and Roku. I'm not gonna pay an extra extra fee to use those. Piss off Microsoft. (i loved the first Xbox, btw and the 360 has given me plenty of funtimes, so im not anti Microsoft) I saw the edit of the XB1 reveal where they just put together all of the bits where they are saying TV, TV, TV, SPORTS SPORTS, CALL OF DUTY, SPORTS TV, TV TV and it's true. It's not gonna be a game console, lol.

PS4: I don't even know what it looks like or if it's even been revealed. I really don't care. I seriously don't give a shit. I'm also not Anti Sony, I just *truly* don't care about this generation of consoles. The Ouya interests me more.

I just got the CPS2 version of Marvel Vs Capcom in the mail yesterday and I was genuinely excited to play it. It's a game I've played a BILLION times and it's very simple. A fighter that ends pretty quick, and yet it's more entertaining than anything on current and new consoles. My PS3 and 360 are sitting in my entertainment center, completely unused for weeks. Ive been trying to sell them on Craigslist and no one has responded. And they are hacked with games on them, but no one wants them.

I know it sounds like I'm pissed off, or whatever with this current state of affairs when it comes to gaming, but I'm not mad. I just dont care anymore. I'd rather go through Chrono Trigger a 98th time than play the new God of War 45 or Call of Duty 13 Supermodern Dog Warfare.

You don't believe the waggle controls exist or you don't like them? In either case, if you associate the Wii with motion controls, you haven't given it a chance and that isn't where most Wii love comes from. Yes, some things like Wii Sports or Ivy the Kiwi are a ton of fun with motion controls, but the best gaming isn't associated with the sensor bar at all. Nintendo has done a great job at making most games playable with and without motion controls. Mario Kart is a great example - completely different experience using motion and wheel versus handheld pad, however, the standalone game is outstanding. So many great / exclusive titles. The stalwart Kirby / Zelda / Mario / Donkey Kong Franchises all had excellent releases, but so did many others, particularly XSeed. As others said, that is a different topic entirely.

Yep, Marvel vs. Capcom cps2 is great fun, but so is playing great current gen like SSFIVAE (or past gen fighters like 3rd Strike) against friends, online. Apples meet Oranges.

Waggle games are (to me) no fun. When I had a wii I hacked it and had pirated games. I still didn't want to play it. As far as playing online, I'm not a big online player. I prefer having my opponent/partner right there next to me.

Edit: even with MMO games, I usually stick to myself, lol.

They've already made this. It's called the Mac Mini. Just add VLC and DarWiin.

I've actually been discovering what the Wii has to offer over the last couple months, now that the games are mostly stupid cheap, and I would say that it has the best hidden library of gems since the PS1 or Saturn, but overall, I think the Wii library is easily outdone by almost any system released before this generation. I actually think the Gamecube has a better library than the Wii. (I like the Gamecube, though.)

With the X1, there are already some clear barriers to entry for me: I don't buy things day-one--aside from the Dreamcast; I don't buy games new; I won't voluntarily allow Big Brother into my home; I have zero interest in paying for Gold subscriptions. Shmups are the only reason I ever bought a 360, and my suspicion is that a lot of shmup developers will stick with the hardware that already has plenty of power to push their wares, and that their fans have already bought into.

I've been pretty upset with Sony for not supporting PS2 BC (don't tell me about their costs; there's been a software emulator in the PS3 since forever, that they chose not to support until they could re-release digital copies of PS2 games.) and their crusade on Linux users. I've said I wouldn't support Sony anymore, but I could see myself with a PS4 once it's bottomed out in the retail market. As long as there are actually some good games that come out for it.

I think there's a general feeling of ennui surrounding the entire industry in this coming generation though. Nintendo is opting out of E3; Microsoft released their X1 press information before E3. I don't know that I would say the industry is unhealthy at this point, but it certainly doesn't look healthy.

I've been with PC gaming for along time. I collect homeconsole games just to switch things up, maybe experience something new, see what the hubub is about certain series. But realistically, if I never played another homeconsole game, I doubt I'd lose much sleep. I was a college student in till recently, and PC gaming was way cheaper and more convenient for me, and the games that I played were just as good if not better than any individual console could offer. This spans back to the PS2 era, and the PS2 was even my favorite console of all time.

As for my opinion on the last consoles (360/PS3/Wii), I don't really get why people get so bent out of shape in regards to the multmedia aspect. There's really no reason for your console not to be able to do multiple things.

Personally, I don't see what you guys are doing with your consoles. I have a 360, Wii and PS3. When I want to play a game, I put the game in, and I play it. I'm confused to how this is any different from any of my other consoles. I never get any advertisements nor am I forced to update anything (or even asked since I don't have Xbox Live anymore). The only things that would even need updates are online games, in which why wouldn't you update? Logically, you cannot play against or with other people if you have different versions.

I think there is too much cynicism amongst this generation, granted this is the internet era so there is bound to be plenty of that.

As for my opinion on the upcoming consoles. I thought the Xbox1 had a decent reveal, I mean it was no worse than the PS4, like someone else said the Xbox is just the latest so everyone forgot about PS4s (literally, a lot of people do not remember PS4's conference at all). I mean, I was disappointed that they did not show any games, but with E3 less than a month, it isn't that crazy, my opinion toward the Xbox at the end of the conference was still in limbo, but generally positive since I have no reason to assume the worst.

I am however not fond of the news that I've learned after. When more details of the whole used thing came out, that def turned me off. I mean full price for a used game, where's the logic in that? I could see a slap on the wrist fee, but retail? I just recently read that you might have to pay money if more than four people want to use the Kinnect, aside from that just being dumb in principle, it's a little creepy.

So yeah, to be honest, I dont get why people are saying the Xbox won't have good games. People said the same thing about the original and 360, and they all end up having good libraries (especially by this sites standards, where much less praised consoles are given good receptions). The X1 will likely have a library no worse than the 360s, but the whole used game thing is crap to me.

So, I'll likely go PS4 when I do buy a new console. I wait in till they're cheap since there are so many older games I haven't played, I see no reason to rush out and buy something that will probably break soon anyway. PSX, PS2 and PS3 have all been the best homeconsoles of their respective generations (haven't tried out the DS and PSP though), the PS4 will likely continue the trend.

The only way I'd get a WiiU before I get a PS4, is if Sony gives in to the used game thing. WiiU seems like a decent buy because it is cheap, but I am pretty sure its library will fall behind just like the Wii's did due to lack of 3rd party support. The Wii has a good library in its own right, but I still preferred the 360/PS3 which had more diverse group, better online indie support (more so the 360 than PS3), and good online gaming (which the Wii has none of). I expect the WiiU to be less successful than the Wii, but I think it will subjectively have a better library than its predecessor.
