Haha, yeah. I actually paused on that rooftop section and made dinner while listening to it.

SNES Beat 'em Ups make up most of my favorite Beat 'em Up games. :D

Ninja Warriors Again is actually the SFC title, it's just "Ninja Warriors" on the SNES. Well, the NA SNES anyway. IIRC, the PAL SNES version had another title ::Google:: Ninja Warriors: The New Generation. Perhaps the original game wasn't well known here, so they simply called the SNES remake "Ninja Warriors" to avoid confusing people?

Here nor there, it's an awesome game!

As for the Final Fights on the SNES, perhaps the Sega CD version ruined playing the first game on the SNES for me. The second one feels more like the first one than the third one. The third one is probably my favorite. It just plays more smoothly than the first two.

Here's one know one has ever heard of: Shin Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-tachi no Banka

According to Wiki, that translates to "The New Hot-Blooded Tough Guy: The Eulogy of Kunio and Co."

It's a sort of RPG Beat 'em Up. Apparently there's an entire series of Kunio-Kun games in Japan. This one caught my eye when I was searching for new SNES beat em ups to play.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Nekke ... i_no_Banka

It has a fan-translation, I don't know how playable it would be with out it. I've been meaning to give it a proper play through, but I have only played the first few levels in an emulator. It plays really good, and I'll eventually play through it on a flash cart. It's definitely worth checking out if you want something new to play.

The Kunio-Kun series has come to the US a few times, all under different publishers and the like. The most popular one in the US is River City Ransom.

Think I mentioned Kunio-tachi no Banka in my article, it's a pretty cool game

You're right. I'm partial to the SFC version, which I own. It had these cool ninja female enemies that they replaced in the US version with some weird, little, midget guys with claws. SFC version has normal colored blood too

I wanna mention Undercover Cops for the SFC as another cool game. The music is cool and the game has a lot of oddball humor(watch how the first boss dies). That first stage music is awesome

I really like that series, and only yesterday did I discover that these two games exist:

and

Neither of them are supposed to be very good, but I am tempted to acquire them out of sheer loyalty to other "Kunio-Kun/Crash 'n The Boys/River City" games.

EDIT: Have any of you played the arcade version of Ninja Warriors? I used to play it quite a bit in my younger days, but I have nver played the SNES version. How do the two games compare?

That Amiga Longplays channel has a better quality video of the game. Sells it pretty well.

It made the confusing elevator navigation section added to the American version less irritating. The Japanese version has you automatically going in the right directions. Plus I like the call back to Rival Turf on the Adler stage at the end.

As far as hack n' slash goes, I'd have to go with Knights of the Round.

*looks at SNES collection*

I don't own a single beat em up!

Knights of the Round and King of Dragons are my faves though.
