We didn't see the system hardware, which makes me wonder: do you think they might be selling an optical drive as an add-on instead of including one in the default config? That would keep prices down...

The word going around was that since they just doubled the ram (this was a big surprise to those in attendance apparently), they may not have what the final build will look like yet.

I didn't watch this. I just realized that there is nothing they could say that would get me excited about a PS4. It's very weird to me to even be saying that. I have traditionally been very excited for each new console release, but the PS4 and the eventual Xbox720 just don't hold any interest for me. I'm surprised I don't care. I guess it's just that consoles are not consistent with how I game now, which is almost entirely through PC using a variety of digital download sources and playing games across history on the same machine. The Wii U looks kind of interesting and will probably come out on top in this new generation, but even that doesn't hold much appeal for me.

Knowing something about your gaming habits, I think there are easily a dozen or more exclusives (including some awesome indie titles) that should pique your interest in a PS3...and the press conference suggested that these kinds of games would continue on the PS4. Do you have no interest in stuff like Flower, Journey, Unfinished Swan, Echochrome etc?

Backwards compatibility isn't flawless either.

Point is more that it's their goal, and if successful it'll give a PS4 (or perhaps simply a PSN account) the ability to play generation's worth of software on one device, just like a PC.
