Xenoblade wss easy to find until just recently. All my local gamestops had extra copies, and it was easy to find them on release day.
The Fire Emblem situation os very different than Xenoblade.

Ah, good point. I was still seeing Xenoblade used until around Christmas.Jmustang1968 wrote:Xenoblade wss easy to find until just recently. All my local gamestops haf extra copies, and it was easy to find them on release day.

It still makes me feel that there'll be new Fire Emblem copies soon, though. I mean, they sold out in a week. They can't have ceased production of them that quickly, could they?

I'm really tempted to buy the actually FE 3DS console.. But should I flip it immediately or keep it for a few years then sell it sealed??

Re: Is Fire Emblem Awakening out of stock forever?
I grabbed a copy of this today since: (1) it is getting great reviews; and (2) I have some concerns about it returning to stores. (I think Nintendo is trying to move to a digital distribution model, and I anticipate it doing more limited physical print runs of some of its niche titles...) I searched every BestBuy, GameStop, Wal-Mart, and Target in the Charlotte area, and I only located one store with the game "in stock". Fortunately, that store was the Target closest to my home, and I was able to pick up its last copy. (Unfortunately, I have not had time to sit down with it yet, but I am really looking forward to it.)

My GameStop still hasn't gotten their shipment. May hunt around other places.
Older. Not wiser.

I want to respectfully differ with you there.MrPopo wrote:I don't think they're trying to create a shortage. I think they just don't have a good grasp on how popular the series may or may not be. Don't forget we missed out on the DS remake of FE3 after FE1's remake didn't do so well, sales wise. I think they're erring on the side of caution because a deficiency in the physical copies can be made up by people who want to play the game getting the downloaded version. If your goal is just to play the game then the digital is just as good as the physical.Boyward wrote:But NEVER to this degree. I'm starting to wonder if this is part of a plan to push their download-only service and phase out physical copies of their games. I can't imagine what else Nintendo would have to gain by creating a shortage.Cronozilla wrote:Nintendo seems to always strange the supply of Fire Emblem games here. If this is the case, the retailers certainly won't be pleased.
With a physical copy I can sell it iwhen I complete it, or share or trade it with a friend.
Nintendo's digital distribution doesn't let you do this. Heck, you can't even carry your software ownership to different 3DS systems like Steam does with PC's or like an Apple account does with their devices. Plus I've yet to see Nintendo discount their digital games like Steam does. If I'm not mistaken games like Super Mario 3D land and Starfox 64 3D are still $40 on the eShop, even though physical copies can be had for well under that.
So, no. As a matter of principle I'm pretty reluctant to shell out $40 for a digital copy in light of everything I'd be forfeitting from getting a physical one.
It doesn't seem like any of us know any better than when I originally posted this, but if Nintendo did this to try and incentivize people to shop from the eShop instead of the traditional way, I'd find that really disappointing.

I'm sad to find out that this game doesn't have a strategy guide, its kind of a tradition for me to buy a strategy guide for every zelda and fire emblem game.

Your points do not address the bolded print of popos post... if all you do is want to play, than it is just as good. Your post just went into the old digital vs physical argument which most of us acknowledge at this point.Anayo wrote:I want to respectfully differ with you there.MrPopo wrote: I don't think they're trying to create a shortage. Re: Is Fire Emblem Awakening out of stock forever?
When I was in GameStop on Saturday they sold the open "new" copy they had. Said they couldn't keep them stocked for more than a day. The one associate said there was a manufacturing error - with a first batch being defective or something so they're slowly catching up as more are made and shipped out. I would think I would have read that elsewhere though.
