gonna get a 3ds copy on day one. I have been playing the series since the first installment and about 80% of the time I played solo, so I'm already used to playing alone. I'm not saying I'm against multiplayer for MH as it is the heart and sole of the series. it's more that i used to know only one other that played the game. the online helped with the wii and i used adhoc party a lot for the psp after 2 years of playing the MHF series. I'm lucky with this one actually as two of my friends are willing to get the game. They are new to the series and seem to be excited, but only time will tell if they actually get into it. I also just got the circle pad pro for the game.

My $0.02.

I played a bit of the 3DS demo. Not very impressed.

Graphically, it's below the Wii game but above the PSP titles. (Not that I expect a 3DS to blow the Wii out of the water but anyway...)

The virtual d-pad is functional. That's it. Functional. A lot better than "the claw" but not as smooth as a second stick would be. I didn't play with the monster lock-on feature. I forgot about it until now. lol.

The game seemed a bit blurry. I'm playing on the original 3DS with 3D off. I don't know how an XL screen would look... maybe worse- if it's true that an XL just stretches the image.

---

I'll probably avoid the 3DS release and just wait for Soul Sacrifice on the Vita.
Whenever (if?) I get a Wii U I'll probably pick up the HD console edition.

EDIT::::

Oh yeah. Swimming!! Swimming was a tad difficult. There are no dedicated "go up/go down" buttons like there are on the Wii. I'd say a Circle pad pro will remedy that though.

Ugh I really want to try the demo but I won't get a chance for a couple more days. I didn't realize that the Wii U doesn't have an ethernet port and logging onto my school's wifi with a console is impossible (and besides that the wifi is unusably bad anyway). I got a usb ethernet adapter so I'm waiting on that for now...

Or you could skip the b.s. and play with the circle pad pro.
When booting up the demo, one of the first screens is one saying "This software is not compatible with the circle pad pro" Not sure if this is a demo only thing.

You can see my thoughts on the WiiU version here:

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... start=1063

I just got done messing with the 3DS version and it looks great, not seeing the bluryness beyond what's normal for 3DS games, and it has a better framerate to boot.

When played properly, I think it works fine. If you try to only use the manual camera and centering, you're going to have a bad time. You really have to learn to use the monster targeting generously, the on-screen dpad is only meant to be used lightly and it seems to work quite well.

Edit: Better but not quite good enough, the 3DS version is now able to tag along on a WiiU to play online. Better than nothing I guess.

I noticed that too. I hope the full game gets cpp support.

Are you playing on an XL?
I tried that monster lock-on and it works great compared to the touch pad.

So you need a Wii U and a lan adapter to play the 3DS title online? At that point you should just buy the Wii U version.

Oh well, at least they made it an option.

I downloaded the demo and was surprised that there were no instructions. I have no idea on how to play or what to do. Did I miss something?

I started running around and eventually saw some monster but ultimately I died because I wasn't sure what to do.

Welcome to Monster Hunter! :P Don't feel bad because the demos have never explained gameplay... like ever... In that regard, the demos are actually really terrible and don't convey what the game is about.

A tl;dr version of how the game works:

-Start the quest and hunt the specified monster.
-Find the monster.
-Smack it til it dies.
-Harvest resources from the carcass; turn the resources into new weapons/armor.
-Fight tougher monsters. Repeat above steps.

For instructions on controls tap the "Manual" button on the 3DS home menu.
