Well, I just did a search on Radiant Dawn for Wii because I never got that game but am still interested even after all these years, and it's not cheap. No clue about the other games, though. I would imagine that the first FE game we got for GBA would be fairly cheap, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

The game is available digitally as well, so there's probably a reasonable limit to how much people will pay.

I was in my local Target and Best Buy today. Both stores had multiple copies of the new Fire Emblem.

I am a bit intrigued by the game (haven't played any of them), but I figure I'll wait for a sale. Do the FE games drop in price pretty regularly and/or quickly?
It's a Nintendo published series, so seems like pricing is more in line with a Zelda or Mario. I wouldn't expect the price to drop quick. The last two certainly didn't.

Tektoro's been driving up the price on these for quite some time. The same goes for Wind Waker.

There are two Gamestops in a 30 mile radius to me with copies. One of them is actually right down the street, I might have to hit it up.

for those who are worried if FE is going to face the same fate. The answer is yes. If you check out the prices for the previous FE games, they've all gone up dramatically. Just because they have multiple copies at Target does not make it safe to wait a little longer and ebay won't be nice with you. As for Xenoblade, I've only seen the promo cases, never the real thing.

Checked up on this. There are 3 near me; all pre-owned, and all at least an hour and a half away. Or the guy at my local GS tells me that I can pre-pay for one at the store, and they'll send it to my address.

He tells me that the copy will be a used copy, but then procceds to tell me that the SKU says it's new. I asked what the pre-owned price is, and he says "$59.99"

So what they've done, is because they can't raise the MSRP, they've made the existing copies left in stock "used", so they can adjust the price as they see fit.

They did the same thing when PS2 copies of MvC2 reached crazy prices, so they could charge $70 for them. What utter bullshit.

Slightly more than half the Targets in my area are out of stock. Most of the remainder have "limited stock" and only the ones in the suburbs showed a regular stock. I stopped by a "limited stock" one today and grabbed one of two copies, and cancelled my Amazon order.

The price increase for Fire Emblem games seems to be a recent phenomenon. I remember the Sacred Stones GBA game on clearance for $10. I picked up the Gamecube game for $20 at a Gamestop Black Friday sale, and I paid maybe $20 used for the Wii game not long after it came out. I also seem to remember Shadow Dragon being fairly cheap for a while. Now it seems they have all increased in value greatly.

My theory is just that the series got significantly more popular between the last title's release and this one, resulting in a price increase overall for all the titles, each of which was already discontinued. That would also explain why Nintendo botched projections for this game and didn't manufacture enough copies to meet the initial demand, if they based manufacturing numbers on previously mediocre sales.

Still, given the trend, I would go ahead and buy a copy. I'd rather do that than risk running into another Xenoblade scenario. All the Fire Emblem games have been very enjoyable and worth full price.

I suspect the Wii U actually increased demand for Xenoblade. As late as October, the game was selling for below retail even with the art book. It jumped in price in December and has stayed high.
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

Its probably because the mainstream crowd is just NOW realizing that Xenoblade exists and is awesome. People bought the WiiU and are looking for games for it and then came across Xenoblade and heard how good it was from those of us who got it when it came out.
