Re: blahblahblah next gen blah blah blah PS4 blah blah blah
The Ouya will be cool (Im backet number 863) but its not going to compare to the gaming goodness of the PS4 or next gen Xbox. Hell I'd probably pick the next gen PSN and XBLA over the Ouya if I had to bet which would be a better gaming experience. The Ouya after all is mostly going to be just controller based android games running on a Tegra 3 processor with limited big publisher support.

Square and Namco are on Board for the Ouya.8bit wrote:The Ouya will be cool (Im backet number 863) but its not going to compare to the gaming goodness of the PS4 or next gen Xbox. Only way I could see someone saying this gen has only been "soulless bullshit" is if you've deliberately ignored everything that isn't an AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA shootingthings title

or a great game that sold well...and became a yearly title
or a good game that got over killed with DLC
or had DLC on Disc
or got an upgrade 7 months later
Or could have been AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BUT THEY PUT IN MULTIPLAYER IN A GAME THAT DOES NOT NEED MULTIPLAYER

I've had no interest in either the 360 or PS3, maybe if they get super cheap, and I'll likely have zero interest for their next consoles either. I do however want a Wii U and to upgrade my 3DS to an XL.

Why does having an upgrade, DLC or sequel mean anything? What ever happened to just not buying things you dont want? Like how much pain can having a multiplayer mode have?TheRev wrote:Or Sports gameAppleQueso wrote:Only way I could see someone saying this gen has only been "soulless bullshit" is if you've deliberately ignored everything that isn't an AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA shootingthings title

Too often I've found good games could have been great games, if they just cut out multiplayer (I'm looking at you Ninja Gaiden 3)Violent By Design wrote:Why does having an upgrade, DLC or sequel mean anything? I have no issue with DLC...IF DLC IS BROUGHT ON AFTER THE GAME IS OUT rather than announced right when the game comes out, shows me you didn't bother to finish your game. So too many games now are being released unfinished so they can just patch it alter and make us pay 10-$20 for the rest of the game later on.

I've never played Ninja Gaiden 3, but I know that Metroid Prime 2's multiplayer mode didn't really hurt it.TheRev wrote: I have no issue with DLC...IF DLC IS BROUGHT ON AFTER THE GAME IS OUT rather than announced right when the game comes out, shows me you didn't bother to finish your game. Day one DLC is usually a publisher enforced thing and usually not something developers choose to do. The practice is shitty in principle I agree, but at the same time it's hard for me to get too worked up as the content in question is usually pointless and inconsequential anyway.
Patches I've got no problem with. It's not like games were all released bug free back in the day either, there's plenty of examples of games that have a game breaking glitch that snuck in. At least nowadays those sorts of problems can be simply patched out. If it means games are pushed out with less rigorous testing because they know they can just patch it later, I'm willing to accept that as a fair tradeoff.
Re: blahblahblah next gen blah blah blah PS4 blah blah blah
Yeah I'm fine with patches but Day one DLC...
I know it's a publisher thing but it stifles the creative process and breaks a game for me.
Tekken Tag 2 however does it right. The DLC are nice extras to have nothing required and the time release thing they did was great.

I've already skipped the current generation. Nothing in the current, or proposed future, consoles has anything I need or desire.TheRev wrote: Anybody else thinking of skipping the Next Gen entirely?
