The official Racketboy "I Love You Man" thread.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Haha! Fwiw, your "bitching" is always entertaining. The image resizing peeves, improper use of flash photography, and let's not forget eBay format revisions and backwards search functions.

I like to think I can (at the very least) get along with most everyone here. Favorites? You know who you are. :)

just to be clear, this thread was far from a list of favorites or meant to leave anyone out. My intention is an ongoing thread to just place compliments.

Bleh. I guess I could've worded that with a bit more couth, or just omitted it all together.

Aww, what a great thread. Here are a few people off the top of my head whom I owe for my involvement here:

nathanjbarnatt: I found out about Racketboy through Keith's shout-out in Four Bright Buttons and Two Joysticks. For whatever reason it hadn't occurred to me before then that there might be an internet forum dedicated specifically to retro gaming. Thanks, Keith!

Nemoide: Good friend from way back, but who made a pact, when I joined Racketboy simultaneously with him, to back me up against any trolling. I had been expecting the worst, but my fears were totally unwarranted. This is without a doubt the best forum I've ever been a part of.

Op.Wok: My socialization drill sergeant, this man cajoled me out of shyness and into conversations, IRC chats, and eventually my first RB meet-up (which he hosted), which was some of the most excellent fun I'd had in a while.

dsheinem: Also responsible for much of my RB IRL socialization to date, a fellow with whom I really enjoyed sitting around at PAX East and chatting about video games in context of bigger societal issues. I think it's awesome that he's writing a book, and I still really want an autographed copy when it comes out.

fvgazi: Thanks for allowing this complete stranger to get into your car, then driving her and the rest around NYC while talking music and chiptune. Also, totally sorry I spilled your beer at the Barcade. I will buy you a replacement the next time we cross paths.

And also, because I always forget to mention this one:

Michi: Your on-the-spot photoshops crack me up like you wouldn't believe. Thank you for those.

To all of those who saw my name and decided to try ExedExes: Thanks for giving it a shot; it appears not many knew exactly what it was, and it turned out they enjoyed it!

To all those on Shmup of The Month: It has been a very good natural extension of the Together Retro theme. Thanks to brunoafh for the idea, updating the scores, and just organizing and keeping us all in line when it comes to voting.

To all those who participate in and out every month on the main Together Retros, thank you for sharing your stories and experiences, and listening to mine.

I may not know any of you personally, mostly in passing in all the threads I post in, but it's always a fun time when I visit here. Plus, the collection phase has returned for me in 2012, and I hope to continue doing this!

Finally, since this thread is dying for a reference -

I love this forum. I know I'm fairly new (within the last year or so) but I've appreciated how welcoming everyone is, and isn't afraid to share their opinions. Even criticisms are provided with tact...most of the time ;). Great thread noise.
