N64 has always been my least favorite major console.

Diddy Kong Racing (n64) > Crash Team Racing (psx) > Mario Kart 64 (n64)

In a heartbeat. I easily play it twice as much.o.pwuaioc wrote:You'd choose the N64 over the 32X?dsheinem wrote:See, I have or have had (and deliberately parted with) about 25 of those 40 or so games you listed and "N64" is still always my first response to the question "if you were going to get rid of a console, which one would it be?". Very few of those games are the best entries in their franchise, and when I do get an inkling to MAYBE play one of them I am reminded of the horrible controller I will have to use to do so. The PS1 and Saturn, on the other hand, get a lot of regular play year in and year out, in part because of their great arcade ports, RPGs, etc.

You play what twice as much? Kolibiri? Star Wars? I play Mario Kart 64 - the best of all console Mario Karts - 100x as much as either of those. I cannot see anything else on the system coming close. And that's one 64 game alone.dsheinem wrote:In a heartbeat. Mario Kart clones often aren't as good as Mario Kart games, but there's a few that might be better. Diddy Kong Racing is a great game, and many people seem to agree that it was better than Mario Kart 64. CTR sucked.tintinmayo wrote:Diddy Kong Racing (n64) > Crash Team Racing (psx) > Mario Kart 64 (n64)
That must be really hard to do considering there are no good games for the 32X.dsheinem wrote:In a heartbeat. I easily play it twice as much.
Where's all this hatred for the N64 controller coming from? It's really not that bad. The only things that are really bad with it is that the joystick will wear out (unless you lubricate it) and you have to use the C buttons as a pseudo right stick for FPS games. And those both aren't that big of a deal. Other than that, it's a matter of preference. If you don't like the way it feels in your hands, I can't argue with that. I can't tell your hands what to like. I find it comfortable to hold. The three prong design is weird, I'll admit, but that doesn't automatically make it a bad controller. The Xbox controller is more "normal" and every one seems to love it, however, I don't find it comfortable at all. I guess what I'm trying to say it, and sorry for being so lame, to each his own.Almost every one in this thread wrote:The N64 controller is horrible.

Clearly you have not played BC Racers.o.pwuaioc wrote: You play what twice as much? Kolibiri? Star Wars? I play Mario Kart 64 - the best of all console Mario Karts - 100x as much as either of those. I cannot see anything else on the system coming close. And that's one 64 game alone.

Still not better than MK64. In fact, I'd pronounce it only mediocre, and it's not even a 32X exclusive.dsheinem wrote:Clearly you have not played BC Racers.o.pwuaioc wrote: You play what twice as much? Kolibiri? Star Wars? I wasn't a fan of the N64 controller either, that's why I researched 3rd party controllers and found one I liked before buying an N64.
But getting a working one was a problem my first one had a jammed reset button so I got one of those screw drivers and unjammed it.... still no picture tore the thing to shreds... found out the cart slot was bent to hell. Bought another one, still no picture seems sometimes I have to unplug it and then plug it back in to get a picture.
I need a good S-Video cable for it too, the monster cable I had is bent all to hell and I'm just using it for Audio out of my Gamecube.
My Gamecube gets the least love out of all my consoles too and it'll probably stay that way until I get the hudson selection games.

I've had several N64s at various points, and I've never come across that. The worst I've seen is just a really dirty N64.TheRev wrote:But getting a working one was a problem my first one had a jammed reset button so I got one of those screw drivers and unjammed it.... still no picture tore the thing to shreds... found out the cart slot was bent to hell. This one is decent:I need a good S-Video cable for it too, the monster cable I had is bent all to hell and I'm just using it for Audio out of my Gamecube.
