Xenoblade Chronicles out of print?
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles out of print?
Games are way more fun when they are being played and not sealed away on a shelf. Personally, I feel that depriving yourself the enjoyment of playing the game to possibly make a $50 profit off it in the future is a sad way to live. I opened mine first day and played the crap out of it. Its a great game, open that shit.

I agree, play that game! I'd consider it a bonus if the game gains value as a used game and you decide to sell it. As others have said, there are far better ways to invest your money if that is what you are aiming for.
In the end, games are meant to be played and enjoyed.

You could apply this to almost any game while you're at it.

Just play it. I bought a sealed copy, since I couldn't find a second-hand copy for a decent price, and opened it right away. It's a fun, enjoyable RPG. Perhaps a little over-hyped, but definitely better in your console than sealed on your shelf.

Gamestop is a greedy bastard Xenoblade $89.99 for a used game not sealed. reprint copies for all stores is the only option.

Play it. I was amazed by the immense scale of the game being run on the most underpowered console of that generation. I'm not a huge RPG fan like a lot of the guys here, but I was thoroughly impressed.

Yeah I kinda wish I had thought of that 10 years ago. Ah well, too late.

Kotaku has a story up today on this very thing.
It's only speculation that Gamestop reprinted the game without sealing the copies. And since it's not available on Nintendo's website I doubt this is true. What's more likely is that Gamestop pulled used copies that weren't selling wherever they were sitting and redistributed them to where they will. And if they did secretly reprint with shrinkwrap, you know what? That's genius. Not only that, it will allow that many more people to play Xenoblade (more copies = more possible players) and as the new supply hits the market, prices online should begin to drop.
If we want GS to lower their own price, the best way is to not buy the game from them. As this next gen rolls in GS will discount current gen stuff to make room and eventually even the expensive stuff will see price drops. There's still 10 or so PS2 games at GS that have used prices of $20 or higher, and I have seen every single one put on a deep temporary discount at some time or another just to make more room for current gen stuff. These weren't nationwide advertised sales, it was just local stores trying to move inventory.
And really, GS is charging the same amount for used copies of Xenoblade as the internet is. GS will let you see the disc before you buy and will give you a warranty, whereas Ebay is not quite as safe. I don't know what makes people think they're entitled to what is essentially a 55% discount (assuming that GS would be charging the usual $40 for used copies of a $50 game) on Xenoblade at Gamestop. What it all comes down to is people are upset that they have to pay market price for Xenoblade, just like with every other game. IMO this is even more ridiculous than people complaining about Goodwill's prices, as GS has never once implied that they are a charity.

Really wish I hadn't opened my copy of the game, specially since it didn't really blow me away when I played it.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles out of print?
I seriously doubt GameStop did a reprint, because they would need Nintendo's permission to do so, considering Nintendo is the owner and publisher of the property. There's no way Nintendo would risk such bad PR as a "secret reprint", and also the game's not available from their own site. So I agree that GameStop simply hoarded up and redistributed their existing stock of Xenoblade to areas where the game might actually sell. $90 for a used game is atrocious sure, then again people will pay $150 for used Panzer Dragoon Saga so whatever.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
