also not having to worry about your save battery dieing 20 hours into the rpg your playing is a real plus, i know from experience  i collect sega saturn and dreamcast games simply because those games are hard to emulate well and im a huge fan of those systems. my advice is collect the things that mean alot to you and emulate those fun but expensive games

I also collect dreamcast and play the thing although my mind has been on gamecube and nes. Maybe I should stick with getting dreamcast games instead of buying rare nes carts. I didn't relieze how much these games cost now. It's sad that games like snow bros and little samson are soo costly. They seem like great games. Ohh well thank god for emulation

Problem solved, you can even play them on your Dreamcast. It is cool to have some of your favorite rare stuff just not all of it.

Dreamcast is a good choice even with its cult status its rarest games dont usually break the $50 mark (except jpn imports), and if you cant afford all the games you want or just wish to try before you buy just burn a copy. As far as emulation i found it not so great, imo just go on craigslist and find a wii for $50-$70 and softmod it. The wii is a perfect emulation machine and so simple to do.

I own an original xbox with a 160 gig hard drive. I just use that for emulation.

Why the hell would you even consider Bonk on NES if you don't have a ton of extra cash, when you get get both a TG-16 console and Bonk's Adventure for like the same price!?!?!?!

I didn't want to add another system to my collection. Even though it would be cheaper an better I did not know how much some of these games go for today. I thought bonk was maybe 50-60.00 before i went online and checked it out. God damn was I wrong. That's why im just sticking with dreamcast and pap. Even gamecube have sky rocket in prices.

Some conjecture here, I may be entirely wrong but this is the impression I have:

What is fact is it has the smallest production run of the NES Mega Man games. It was 1992 and Capcom was getting more focused on the SNES, releasing Mega Man 5 in the west was sort of an afterthought to them. After this game came out they announced the sequel but more importantly Mega Man Soccer and Mega Man X as well, which were their main concerns.

However they didn't even release Mega Man 6 here probably because they didn't want to conflict with Mega Man X's release (which came out in the west two months prior to MM6). Nintendo stepped in and published it themselves presumably because they wanted to keep the NES going for a while longer and they wanted big names like Mega Man to show it wasn't dead yet. They put a lot of hype behind it too, since westerners were finally allowed a shot at the design a robot master contest.

To put it simply, Capcom's interests in the NES were waning by the time of Mega Man 5 and they probably assumed the sales weren't there for a bigger printing of the game. Considering it was received as just another Mega Man and fans were clamoring for a 16-bit upgrade they were probably right. Thankfully Nintendo still believed in the 8-bit installments of the franchise or 6 would've been a lost installment.

On Topic:

Like others said, stuff like Duck Tales 2, Rescue Rangers 2 and Bubble Bobble 2 really aren't worth getting unless you're going for a complete collection or love the first games so much that you need to have more of the same. They're not a whole lot different from their predecessors and in most cases the first games were better anyway.

Bonks is interesting but not worth its price.

If I had to recommend a really rad rare NES game that doesn't have a better prequel or superior version on another console, I'd pick Little Samson.
I do want to know one thing from you guys. Since I own the gamecube and I also own the hori gamecube/ gameboy player controller,Is it worth at least getting the mega man's on the nes since I own 2 and 6 or just buy the mega man x collection and mega man collection for the cube with the price of mega man and mega man 5?
Well... the Anniversary Collection has some problems but it's not bad. The biggest thing is the shoot and jump buttons are switched, and you can't switch them back. It's no problem for people not into Mega Man but if you've got years of muscle memory the change is really painful. The PS2 and Xbox versions don't have this problem.

The X Collection has the PS1 version of Mega Man X3 which is actually kind of the worse version of the game though it's got some funny little cutscenes.

If you just want to play the games the collections aren't a bad way to go and you'll also get those weird fighting games and cart racer as a bonus.

Also if you have a way of playing Famicom games you can usually get Mega Man stuff a lot cheaper if you just buy the Famicom version. It's not like there's much story or even much Japanese in the games anyway. The same goes for the Super Famicom and Japanese Game Boy versions. I have Rockman 7, Rockman X3 and Rockman World 2, 4, 5 because it was just a lot cheaper that way. I would've done the same for Mega Man 5 but I finally ran into a good deal and completed my NES set.
