I got back into Yu-Gi-Oh! a few months back, and it's been a blast. Right now I'm focusing on building up a collection and some decks irl. Though I only duel on duelingnetwork because I'm a little apprehensive about going up against people who've been doing it for years consistently.
I want to try Cardfight Vanguard, but I have little money as it is for video games even, so I doubt I ever will.

Re: Trading/Collecting/Customizable Card Games!
I delved very heavily in Pokemon when it first came out. Eventually moved onto M:TG, had an on-again/off-again relationship with Yugioh, then went onto the collevtable miniature games Heroclix and Dreamblade.
Pokemon was fun, but the best decks never changed. Not like M:TG where a new set changes everything. Nope. Haymaker variants were there for a while until Neo1 came out and Sneasel-Slowking ran rampant (which, to this day, I am surprised that Fossil Muk never caught on as it was extremely effective in beating that particular decktype). I quit 6 months after the fourth 'Neo' set was released (the one with the 6 'Shining' chase Pokemon).
Played M:TG for a few years. Tried Extended, but then retreated to Legacy where I found a great pleasure playing Solidarity. The complexity of the deck was facinating to me and was rather fun to use. Even though it took me 10 minutes to work up a long enough chain to Brain Freeze your deck, spend another 10 explaining how the chain works. It was great.
Yugioh. God I hate this game for the sheer fact that it is HORRIFICALLY easy to jump back into when you quit. After the emergency ban in 2008, I built the Self-Destruct Button Turbo decktype (out of pure hate for the game and frustration with everything I had going on at the time) and proceeded to shamelessly self-promote the deck and encourage troll-building for years. It was fun, but I think I've finally hit a point to where I'm abandoning the game for good.
Heroclix had a roigh start, but now that I'm completely distancing myself from gaming is when the game is getting REALLY damn good. I started playing when Hypertime first came out--the game was severely flawed and sucked. After a change of hands in licensing, game got better quick.
The best game I have ever played was Dreamblade. Despite the game for being alive for approximately a year, it was fun and easy to build into, but mastering the complexities and minutae of the game made it an absolute blast. To sum it up quickly, the game is the truest form of battle-chess.
It just sucks that the game ended only after 5 sets were released (6 if you count the entire spoiler listing for Serrated Dawn), but man the meta changed after every set, From a competitive standpoint, the game ended with 1 team that destroyed virtually everything. The next best team couldn't hold a candle to it, but beat pretty much everything else.
I still have The Sweeper as a 'card guard' for Poker games here in Las Vegas.

I collected Pokemon and still to this day if I have some extra money I'll grab a pack or two. Still have all my original cards
