What was the RTS-like sim game where you had little groups of cavemen that fought each other? I can visualize the screen, and I remember a voice saying "we've advanced a tech level" as your men advanced from stones to other weapons.
That game, Gain Ground, Strider, and Aladdin were the only games that stood out for me. Other games that people fawned over, such as Road Rash, seemed weak.
Edit: the game in question is Tyrants, which apparently is a port of an Amiga game.

Re: no love for the sega genesis
SOME Genesis can still be had for cheap, but anything remotely in the vein of the Strategy/RPG genre is just as expensive as those in the SNES library, and in some cases, much more. Crusader of Centy is going for an outrageous amount (CIB is close to the 250 range), Shining Force 1 and 2 are going strong, Landstalker is slowly creeping up, the Phantasy Star games are no longer cheap, and the list goes on.

I've noticed this with stores and flea markets in my area too (Northeast USA). You'll often have a bunch of SNES games displayed neatly and proudly up front, with a messy bin of Genesis carts off to the side.
This doesn't offend me or anything; the Genesis is my favorite console, and I have a great time rummaging around for personal finds amid the usual chaos. What I don't like is that the general disinterest in the system makes it much more acceptable to stock cartridges only. It seems like effort is only put into stocking Genesis games CIB in many retro outlets if 1) they're Sonic games or 2) they're prized rarities.

Eh, I doubt that's intentional. For whatever reason, Genesis games often don't have their clamshells anymore.

I know of several stores - including one store chain - that throws out all Genesis cases and manuals.

"No room" is always their reply. Why do you think I suddenly came into possession of a ton of cheap Genesis cases and cardboards?

Glad you were able to save what you can, but yeah, that's just a little infuriating to say the least.
Is it just me or do game store owners very rarely have any actual love or appreciation for the games they sell?
Re: no love for the sega genesis
The retro store I always go to or not going as much always sold games for 3.00 or so because nobody bought them. Now that a couple college kids bought a bunch of genesis games they jacked up the prices and now NOBODY is buying the games. Gee and they wonder why genesis doesn't sell anymore. It's a damn shame
