I see Snakemen, a grenade launcher, and a sword. And it looks like maybe repurposed cyberdisk drones.

my wife's response to XCOM 2 announcement:

"wow, guess i won't see you for a month or so"

Between Enemy Unknown, Enemy Within and Long War, I've got about 200 hrs on XCOM. So she's probably not wrong. :|

This is the best gaming news I've heard all year. I'm tempted to start another playthrough now to gear myself up for the sequel haha.

some things revealed for XCOM 2:

-November 2015 release date
-PC/Mac/Linux only so far
-Support for mods (!!!)
-Wounded soldiers can be carried to safety
-Base will be mobile

at this point I feel like any game I play between now and November is just something to kill time while waiting for XCOM 2.

I'm contemplating attempting an Ironman Classic run, since I've never done that. But I'm also a bit nervous how much time that will suck up.

On Ironman you'll spend most of your time in the first month trying to get a good start. Once you get a good start you should be good to go and be able to absorb losses. In my EU Ironman Classic I lost an entire squad except for a squaddie, which included a couple of colonels, but I was able to rebuild as the further you get in the game the more your equipment can make up for your rookies not being very skilled; heavy use of grenades will get you through tough situations.
