I can't stand the media anymore. Any of it.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

About the media, I find it sad that the internet which provides such vast information at our disposal, has led to a decrease of people in knowledge. People don't think anymore, they see some crap reproduced somewhere and they choose to believe it without looking into the article's source.

Really there's no difference (ignorance wise) to the west not caring if a news source ever reproduces lies (if that happened the news source should lose all its followers and go bankrupt in no time, but instead we choose to just keep following it, regardless of its lies, cause we like listening to the media that has the same "view" as us cause we like being right), and what is happening everytime someone in the Muslim world reproduces a story about a westerner burning a book.

Technology offered us some amazing tools, and we again managed to fuck it up. Humanity will never be able to escape from being handicapped from its lowest common denominators.

So I'll come out as a full-on liberal media addict. And I was just listening to NPR's "On the Media" discussing NPR's potential liberal bias earlier today. WOAH BOY.

I try to watch The Rachel Maddow Show every day, listen to NPR while driving, and am regularly watching either MSNBC or CNN when I'm in the mood for something casual. I'll even occasionally listen to ultra-right-wing talk radio or Fox News, because sometimes I'm in the mood for alternate viewpoints.

YEAH, INJECT THAT CABLE NEWS RIGHT INTO MY VEINS!

(I'm not hardcore enough to watch CNBC though...)

Liberal or conservative, NPR (although a tad biased) is still a great source for well thought out and professional news casts. Plus Wait Wait and Car Talk never disappoint.

I can understand people being upset that they don't agree with all the celebrity nonsense that is counted as actual news (Kardashian interview> 9/11 memorial). But at the same time, good news is out there if you filter out the companies that solely work for the almighty dollar.

It's kind of like looking towards Yahoo! for news about comic books instead of going to newsarama. YOu need to know where to get the right info.

I think a more accurate thread would be one hating on people who pay attention to these media sources, or even worse people who actually take them seriously.

which media sources? surely you don't think they are all the same? even those who cover celeb gossip from time to time can still do an excellent job with important news...

Of course not. But I see a lot of media (specially partisan ones) that just reproduce lies, and when the truth is revealed they try to hide it under the rug. Such media are destroying democracy in my opinion. The media have a very important role in free countries, and reproducing lies should be a heavy offense, but it's not.

But any form of control on the media will get labeled as undemocratic (though on the other hand, I could see it being abused very easily too, so there is merit behind that).

It's just a thorny issue, and the only solution is a better educated populace, but western civilization is just becoming more stupid (as I said the infinite amount of information of the internet has led to less knowledge).

So what? It's a naked body, it's not a sexual act. And besides, have you seen all the violence in gore in video games? If we wanted to protect underage people we have much bigger fish to fry.

The laws in most civilized countries are pretty clear about the way most people feel about showing nudity to underage people. I don't think linking to nudity on a video game forum is at all necessary. And it's pretty ridiculous to try and put the Naked News on the same level as a nude painting or something, quit kidding yourself.

But it's not my website to run here, just sharing my opinion on it.
