I had an issue with water leaking a few months ago and I have all of my consoles in shoe boxes so that they stack. Something that's hard plastic that fits the console, cords, and maybe a controller or two would be great.

Is that the kind of thing you're talking about? This particular one is pretty cool, though it says Nintendo, it also has slots for an Atari 2600/7800 or Master System. And it has a small opening in the back that you can feed the cords through, so you can actually have everything set up and just put the lid on it so your games/system won't get dusty. It might not be the cheapest route, I'm not sure how much these things go for. I got lucky and found mine in the box at a yard sale for $5. Unfortunately I don't really have the space to actually use it though.
