This. And by the looks of it (I've seen like 4 or 5 episodes), American Dad is about million times less funny than Family Guy, ugh. Family Guy all the way

Or the Futurama kicks both their asses option
And Duckman and the first 8 or 9 seasons of South Park kick Futuramas ass

Never watched Duckman, but I'd disagree about South Park being funnier than Futurama. I'd say they're roughly about equal. Actually, I've found that a lot of South Park episodes are funny the first time around only, while a lot of Futurama episodes hold up much better to repeat viewings because the show doesn't rely so strongly on shock value and being topical. A lot of South Park episodes don't really age well. Also, Futurama can be surprisingly poignant at times (like the episode with Fry's dog). South Park will NEVER at any point make you feel any kind of emotion. It's funny, but nothing else. Plus, South Park can be kind of preachy or self important at times. Futurama is all about telling a story and being funny. You never feel like they are feeding you some kind of message

So yeah, I think Futurama is better than South Park. I won't debate which show will be considered more important when people look back on them years from now, but I'm pretty sure Futurama will be the show that ages better. Plus, most Futurama episodes are solid. South Park can be hit or miss.

That's why I said the first 8 or 9 seasons, not all 16 of them.

I don't see why it should. Duckman does have those moments though. The first 2 seasons of Duckman are just perfect. More intelligent and witty writing on average than in FG/SP/Futurama/American dad and it doesn't really spoon feed the viewers with jokes that you're supposed to immediately laugh at, many jokes are so subtle that you might not notice them at first.

I vote for Family Guy, as it's the only one I've watched. I don't like it however, and think that South Park, Futurama, and Duckman all kick its butt.

I like both shows. But I enjoy Family Guy more. Peter, Stewie & The Dog's relationship, and all the insults thrown Meg's way are priceless.

I don't think either is very good, but I doubt anyone is surprised to find that. Futurama is better but I still find very little of interest in it.

Yup. You're echoing what I said in an earlier post. I think that characters make a show. A show without cool characters is doomed from the start. That's why some of us are picking Family Guy over American Dad. No matter how funny it may be, American Dad just has no stand out characters. Stewie is a pop culture icon no doubt, no one on American Dad is

Every great or successful comedy show has at least one stand out or "break out" character.

Big Bang Theory - Sheldon Cooper
How I Met Your Mother - Barnie Stinson
Family Guy - Stewie
Futurama - Bender
South Park - Cartman
Married With Children - Al Bundy
Family Matters - Steve Urkle
The Simpsons - Bart in the early seasons, Homer later on

American Dad.....

Um, pretty much no one.

He seems like the most likely candidate, but he hasn't caught on in popularity at all so he doesn't qualify. Personally, I don't find him even remotely funny. I'll take Stewie and Brian over him any day.
