Ugh yea i think youre right. I have heard in some places though that all DCs should be able to play burnt discs and that the laser on ones that cant just needs to be recalibrated.
You could try re-calibrating the laser, but yes... some DCs really do not read burnt discs. Like I said, I personally had a JP one that didn't. From what I've heard, although with conflicting reports, there are some later US ones (with the "2") that do not read burnt discs.

Anyway, just keep on the lookout for one with a "0" or "1". They are better built anyway. Sega went cheap on the parts with rev. 2.
