I hated in Pokemon (Red, Blue, Yellow) that every time you had to walk someplace you had to walk through the high grass. Everytime you had to walk in the high grass, you had to fight a level 2 Ratatatatatata. Leave me aloneeeeee. Why can't I have the option to opt out of wild pokemon attacking me?

That usually didn't bother me much. I just stepped on the rat and moved on.

Stuff like that serves to make you realize the genius of Earthbound's auto kills for random encounters with low-level enemies.

I hear there's this item called repel, which keeps wild pokemon which are lower level than you from attacking.
