Actually, that's a good point. Maybe pop out the expansion pack and clean those contacts and pop it back in. Maybe some humidity induced corrosion making a slightly flaky contact.

the copy i have will freeze about 4 mins into the opening cinematic every single time as if it was a CD with a scratch on it, since i would have no idea what to even look for (other then cleaning contacts) I havent bothered to pull it apart.
Have you tried playing with the jumper pack instead of the expansion pack? I believe that game has performance issues with the expansion pack inserted.

Uhhhh, I don't even know how to say this.... But IT WORKED!

I'm in shock, why would that even happen? I don't understand how the Expansion pak could of had issues with only that game.
Is this just stupid luck? The games been going 30 minutes with no restart as of now. No complaints from me though

Although I did lose a lot of data in the whole process

Yay can't believe I'd be excited to say this, but the moon crashed, and there wasn't a single restart. Woo hoo!

Well, if the game was using the ram in the pack, but a flaky connection meant that some bad data was passed, it would crash the game apparently. Anyway, glad it's fixed. Something to remember any time an N64 game is acting up. It is kind of a plug and forget kind of thing in there.
