I actually enjoyed Chronicle. I have a feeling this might have decent direction because of that. As long as the protagonist is quiet, and their are no new characters introduced, I think it could be alright.

I think it has the same issues as a Metroid movie will. Both are based on a lone protagonist in a landscape inhabited only by creatures, and those things don't lend themselves to films, which are dialogue based for the most part.

However, look at Hidalgo for some examples of telling a story where the only characters are a guy and his horse (there was a lot more going on in hidalgo obviously, but it had moments like that)

I'm in the middle here. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with a subdued movie (look at the first half of Wall-E) but I certainly do think there's something wrong with the American movie-going populace and the directors that cater to it. They're going to fuck it up, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

While this is all fine and dandy, I'd much rather prefer another darn game! Really, is The Last Guardian actually gonna happen? And what about an actual game sequel to Shadow of the Colossus. Another thing, why? You'd think if Sony wanted to make a movie based on one of their games it would be Uncharted.

I'm not doubting that it couldn't work or be done, but as far as hollywood goes, it really can't. Both those movies would require a huge budget, and they're not going to take a chance on a one man show. Then again, they pulled it off to some degree with I Am Legend.

To everyone insisting that dialogue is a requirement for a movie, I restate:

Yancakes wrote:I would only watch a SotC movie if it was directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud.
EDIT: I guess if just the name isn't obvious enough, he's the dude that directed Quest for Fire. If you don't know what Quest for Fire is, go fucking watch it, it's awesome.

It's not really a one man show. Like I said in my previous post, there's more to the story than just tracking down and slaying the colossi. There's Mono, Dormin, and Lord Emon and his men (who try to stop Wander from "breaking the seal"), there's a lot of back story that you know about but don't see in the game and I think it would be cool to see more on that.

It doesnt need a sequel, it's fine the way it is.

Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Never said it NEEDS a sequel, but it well deserves one over a movie.

Ah, I've only gotten as far as the first colossus.
