THIS. The ECO Cases are a cost savings hidden behind helping the environment banner, but the savings are not passed on to the consumer. New huge hit games prices are pretty much fixed "environmental" case or not. Some will spend more money and waste plastic to get a decent case for their collection.
I hate the fragility of the ECO cases, the bars with holes flexing while trying to push the center to remove a disc. The holes allow discovering hidden artwork in a reversible cover, but give me a solid more sturdy case and charge the extra nickel.

Have you run into problems with the eco-pack cases? It's not just games that are using them either, and I don't see where they present more of a danger to discs. Probably less so than things like custom cardboard sleeves/etc.
I haven't damaged a disc with them yet but I've dropped/stacked eco-packs and it dents the artwork, which I find really annoying.

They are my Mario and Donkey Kong country returns are jam packed and skyward sword is perfect

Ah. I've had that happen before, but not yet with the eco-pack stuff. Most recently, a DS game just happened to have pressure on it where plastic indents for a clip, which damaged the insert a little. There's always the possibility of that, though the more holes the more chances I guess.

You couldn't have picked much worse examples imo. US Saturn and the first version of PAL Saturn cases are garbage, US Sega CD is the same as the first version of US Saturn while PAL Mega CD is decent enough and Playstation games have the same problem as Sega CD/Saturn cases - they crack easily! I've bought so many games for the aforementioned consoles that had nasty cracks in their plastic cases. They look better than PS3 game cases for sure

Spiral bound manuals were fairly common back then for sims/etc.
Thing is, I kinda prefer the newer, smaller style PC cases (or just using DVD cases) for the reasons of shelf placement and organization. The huge boxes were all but empty more often than not, or commonly just had a smallish book + a disc in a jewel case. The newer stuff is at least more consistent.
The recent game I bought is LA Noir, I have to say that of all the games I bought, I love the little extra "Badge Pursuit Challenge" photo negatives that came with the game, since I actually do have some dark room stuff since I do some dark room photography, I actually tried to make photo copies myself, it does actually work!. I will say its one of the greatest extras ever, you do not get it in many other games, to me its like a modernized equivalent of Star Tropics' letter.
I used to take a different NES manual to school every day. I've read the Zelda and Mario manuals so many times over the years. The third party NES manuals were always pretty disappointing. Look at the Konami manuals which usually consist of a few sparse pages, often only showing the controls and list of the enemies. The Nintendo manuals were always amazing, even for the old black box games.
Alright, let's be honest, who cares about manuals? I mean really, I'll accept worse manuals in exchange for some games this generation that are some of the best in history like the Halo series and Batman Arkham series.
