It is a completely different game. Even the story is heavily modified. It's basically Chaos Theory 2, as it uses the same graphics engine and gameplay mechanics. Far, far better than the current gen versions.

My favorite Splinter Cell games in the series are Chaos Theory and Conviction. I really enjoyed the single player campaign of each game. The co-op/multi-player in Splinter Cell: Conviction was also enjoyable as well. I liked the new look of Sam Fisher and the changes to gameplay despite what many didn't like.
The stealth gameplay in Chaos Theory was fantastic. I played the Xbox version but not the HD trilogy release yet.
