As others have said, this is a great idea compared to DLC. You get a physical object to "show", it makes the entire procedure very cool and science fictiony (inserting item into the game world now), and since it is not required to beat the game, but is only a method of rewarding loyal fans who buy the action figures and ect. what's the problem with that?

You don't get a full game? Did you consider that you didn't get the full Star Wars, because of all the comics and books that came out explaining character's backstory?

I think this is an awesome idea, end of story :P

Holy crap! That's just looks like it'd top my current least favorite DLC-based game price-wise (Harmony of Despair). I dunno if anyone priced that beta product out, but it well exceeded $150 last time I checked. I might've had something to do with that OT mess, seeing as how my team designed nearly the exact same thing to be free back in the day, with support for fan-based content and modding. RIP.
Well, if it's making money, all power to them. It's not as bad as HoD, as said at least you get some plastic to show for it. I was planning to cash in on my engine, but not so blatantly.
If you don't like it, don't buy it! You can never win - they'll come out with 15 more action figures.

The skylanders idea would be cool if they used it for something actually decent. Pokemon, Digimon, Magic: The Gathering, any card game really. I mean if you made a Pokemon-esque cartoon that is based on the idea of buying physical toy figures and transfering those figures in a video game where you can control them, that could be something. You just need to make some action packed cool children's action anime series with awesome monster design first. But to be honest, I wouldnt mind a more grown up Dungeons&Dragons, Warhammer 40K or Warcraft version of the same idea.

But raving rabbids and that collectible figure stuff in a Rayman Origins 2 would ruin the game. Origins was a brilliant game because it ignored all the rabbit stuff and went back to its 2D roots of the Jaguar/Saturn/PS1 days.
Rayman Origins 2, in addition to all of the features found in its predecessor, will apparently be packed with "legendary worlds" that are filled with fantasy castles, vampires, ghosts, Greek gods, and even dragons.
While I usually appreciate that, I wouldnt want to see it in Rayman Origins 2 because the surreality of the background scenery was one of the greatest things about Origins. Even the original Rayman was very surreal and unique, it didnt rely on cliche level design.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I like it, looks like a very fun game. Unlike Skylanders which needs you to buy at least one set to really make it through the game; this seems optional. Like it has some added benefits but nothing you can't finish the game without.

I knew this would be coming with the WiiU on some form. I have a feeling they will make a Pokemon Stadium game and the tablet will be used as a strategy board and you set your 6 pokemon on it. If no one came up with that idea yet I hope that when Nintendo reads this that my check is in the mail.

I actually found the part with the group playing the game more annoying; that the one girl there was just using the tablet to move platforms. Because you know, girls can't actually play games.

If I were you, (and if you were serious) I'd capitalize on this sooner rather than later.

Are you saying that i have to buy ALL this if i want to play with all the characters? NO THANKS!
Well in rayman looks like this will be optional, unlike skylanders, just to expand the game a bit long.
Sounds like you've never played it. If you had, you'd know that you only need one figure per group to access all the content in the game.

Is that a 3DS XL in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? ~ZeroAX

Actually no, never played the game.
Well that sounds much better only 8 figures to complete the game instead of 32. Silly me  .

I shop for groceries at Fred Meyers. I like to browse the games in the electronics department from time to time. The ENTIRE PC section has been replaced with a huge display of Skylanders crap! :x :x :x

There is now a tiny PC section on the end of a shelf.
