Yeah, as someone else mentioned, Shadow Hearts Covenant has a lot of silly moments. But I wouldn't recommend playing it without playing the first SH game, which is more of a horror/RPG without all the humor.

The Ar Tonelico games have a bit of humor in them, but they're also kinda serious as well. Great games tho.

There's a Japanese-exclusive RPG that I really love called Aurora Quest that is really pretty funny. Not sure if it has a translation or not tho. It was first on the Famicom, then ported to the PC Engine CD.

I also think Sakura Wars (all of them, but if you want to play one in English, just get the recent PS2 one) are pretty light-hearted with some funny moments.

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is pretty silly for most of the game. I actually really love this one (and the whole series) and definitely recommend it. Put it on "hard" when you play it tho b/c it's pretty easy otherwise.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

This may sound like a silly suggestion, but did anyone mention Super Mario RPG (SNES) yet? It's not entirely HIGH on comedy but the writing stood out and not only for the numerous Nintendo (and the one Square) reference.

I would recommend The bard's tale for the ps2 and other platforms. very funny, tongue in cheek humor that makes fun of role playing game stereo types and conventions. It is not a complicated hack n slash but it is fun and irreverent.

Resonance of Fate for Ps3/360. Very awesome game with some good challenge and really funny moments. One of my favorite RPGs of this gen.

Check out 'Tales of Game's Presents Chef Boyardee's Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa' on PC. You won't find a funnier retro styled jrpg.
