I don't see a problem with it continuing, neither do I have problems with games like Gears of War or Bioshock, but stuff that gets to the point of out of hand, like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, or, dare I say it, Pokemon and Resident Evil. RE should have ended at 4, if even gotten that far. Pokemon, past Ruby/Sapphire, seems to pulled out to me. They ran out of ideas after that point, and based Pokemon off the same things.

Meh, I like it on things I like, but not on stuff I don't like. Opinions are fun!
The creator of Resident Evil seires didn't work on RE5.

I don't know how they release games every 2 years!(or less) i don't see the point, i mean what kind of improvement can you make on a short period of time?

Most sequels are not released because theres something left to say or because you can improve or otherwise do with the original game but because sequels are safe bussiness.

It falls in to my "this was good, I would like more of it" mindset. I'm also the sort of person who can easily eat the same thing for lunch for two years and not grow bored of it.
I agree with this. I like good sequels for good games that I liked.
I played Diablo 2 for MANY hours.
I also like variety to some extent but if I really like something I won't get bored of it. I seriously would eat the same thing for lunch / dinner if it wasn't for health issues (in fact I sometimes wonder if someone would invent a super-healthy nutritionally balanced meal that I didn't need to waste time preparing or thinking about if I would just have that for every meal, but considering the average person would hate that I doubt that anyone would research it).

"More of the same" is generally fine by me for certain games, namely those where level design (or equivalent) is very relevant. The handheld Castlevania games come to mind, for example. Keep them coming please! In particular I didn't at all mind the re-use of the Soul mechanic from Aria of Sorrow to Dawn of Sorrow.

Although at a certain stage I think it may be justified to release the "more of the same" as extra content / expansion packs priced accordingly (and also acknowledge that not everyone is like me and Popo).

When possible, I judge sequels as stand alone games.

Sometimes it's not that easy though *stares at copy of arkham city* as some sequels are just a rehash of the original. Then again you have games that completely redefine a series such as Link and SMB.2 of yesteryear and like Sonic Generations of today.

But I hear ya JT, few games a side it's the same ol stuff over and over with little to no innovations. However, games are entertainment and a business that thrives on "what's worked in the past?". As with entertainment, sometimes you get The Godfather II, sometimes you get Ace Ventura Jr.

This is why Mega Man 2 is the best in the series. It had a reason to be created other than "business".

I'm waiting for my Half-Life Episode 3.

I'm getting sick of sequels, but only because they come out waaaaaay too fast. There are many games I want to play but don't have the time. I finished Mass Effect 2 a few months ago and now the next one is already out.

Finally, more people are feeling the burn. The yearly annual releases of sequels is definitely killing franchises for me. I was a huge fan of Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood, which was even more exciting since I really loathed the first game... but here I am, I haven't even gotten around to Revelations yet (which sounds meh across the board from most people I've talked too), and now we've got another one coming this year, again, already, another $60 (wait probably $70+ with release date DLC and add-ons?).

So yes, it's getting very very hard to keep caring. I kind of crack a smile and it warms my heart a little when I read things about like, Doom 4 or something. The fourth installment of something that started about 20 years ago. That's more like it.

It just depends on the game for me. Im still looking forward to RE6 even though 5 was sucky and I still haven't played MGS4 so im looking forward to that also.
