Re: Dust covers for NES games...Good Idea or not?
I'm kind of a paranoid guy w/ that sort of thing so my vote is: Yes. I have a lot of my carts in drawers and they either have some sort of casing or I have them in zip lock bags. Everybody's different I guess but there's certainly no harm in wanting to have some sort of casing for your carts.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

I forgot about that. I remember doing it now and then back in the day, but I haven't done it with my current collection and I don't plan to.Ziggy587 wrote:Do you still do the thing were you put the dust cover on the top of the cart when playing it? Thinking about that now, wouldn't that wear away at the label?
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

LOL, yeah, I haven't done that since back in the day. I definitely don't do it now. If I take a SNES game off the shelf, and it happens to have a dust cover (maybe only 1/3 of my carts do) I'll leave the dust cover on the shelf as a place holder where the cart goes. Same as I mentioned for my NES carts.

Reading this has made me realize how neurotic I've gotten over the years. Back when the SNES was current-gen, heck yes I put the dust covers on top of the cart. Today, there's no way--it might scuff that precious, beautiful label!Zing wrote:I forgot about that. Yeah, we used to blow on our carts too.

...and I have to facepalm when I think about how many boxes and manuals my parents tossed when I was a kid!Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, we used to blow on our carts too.

I've tried my hardest to repress those mistakes... but the library of boxless cartridges lining my shelves are a constant reminder.diesel_dan wrote:...and I have to facepalm when I think about how many boxes and manuals my parents tossed when I was a kid!
