What do people want to see now a days on youtube?
Re: What do people want to see now a days on youtube?
I want to see videos without commentary (or just a short intro) of retro styled games for modern consoles. Just a quick playthrough of the title screen through the first level, tho a clip of what's to come further into the game would be great. Games come out so fast now that it's hard to keep up or tell what's enjoyable vs. shovelware. I also enjoy videos of older games recorded in good quality (no webcams) with good quality audio. I don't care if whoever's playing is adept or experienced at the game, as long as they give it a good try. I LOVE Game Center CX and so does anyone else who has wached it.

Yeah, Game Center CX is probably my absolute favorite gaming show. It's hard not to cheer for Arino as he figures out a game.

For retro video games, I love watching Vysethedetermined's videos. He's become a bit of a "net buddy" of mine. He shows nothing but footage of retro games (about 8-10 minutes of each) and nothing else. No dumb music or commentaries. His description field, however, shows that he really knows his stuff. For hardware and misc stuff, Gamester81 in Arizona and LukeMorse1 in Japan are fun to watch.
My YouTube channel, on the other hand, shows that you really don't need to be cohesive to get viewers. Basically, I just make videos of my hobbies and my personality: video games, plastic models, science fiction stuff, plenty of videos of travel in Japan, tours of nerd shops in Japan (video games, plastic models, anime/manga shops, etc), Japanese snacks, and anything else, really. So far 307 subscribers without really trying hard. I don't even want lots of subscribers, nor am I even sure why people subscribe to me, actually, because of the lack of cohesion.
Anyhow, I'm not saying this to try to promote my channel, but just wanting to say "just be yourself." Sure, nobody wants to see somebody do a video review of Sonic the Hedgehog with a voice over with lame jokes and fart sounds. Just be yourself and if it's interesting, people will watch and subscribe.
