Are they? I have no trouble finding one in the wild when I need one. I have like 3.
My fault because I wasn't clear.... I was thinking more of new boxed ones, not used. You can still find new ones on Amazon, which is where I buy mine. I try to avoid used memory cards, unless it's for the Neo Geo AES or N64 or something.

I've never, ever had trouble with a used memory card of any brand for any system, with only one exception. A first-party N64 memory card I bought was dead on arrival, but that's it. If I were you, I'd save some money and buy used memory.

-GameShark - For cheating. But it's just a disc, so I'm not sure if this really counts as an accessory.

-PS1 Memory Card - Because PS1 games require them, your PS2 memory card won't work

-PS2 Memory Card - This one is obvious, you need to save your games.

-GunCon 2 Light-Gun - This bad boy works with Time Crisis II & Resident Evil: Dead Aim, both of which are great games, and as far as I know is also compatible with PS1 gun games like the first Time Crisis (but I've heard it has trouble with Area 51 for some reason).

-Guitar Hero Controller - Guitar Hero games are a blast, and it's hard to play them without the guitar.

-Eye Toy - This totally isn't "needed", but goes for so incredibly cheap that it's a neat little novelty to have in your PS2 collection. Pre-Nintendo Wii motion controls. But be prepared for mediocre games.

Guitar Hero controller, GunCon 2, some sort of Steering Wheel with pedals (nothing beats Hot Pursuit 2 with a racing wheel), a decent fight stick, and a dance pad. I guess it depends on your favorite kind of game. I love my Guncon 2. There are only a handful of games for it, but whenever you get that itchy trigger finger and don't want to pay $1 per game Time Crisis at some run down local arcade, the PS2 is the way to go. Try Time Crisis II & III, Resident Evil: Dead Aim, and Vampire Night.

The Eye Toy is mostly rubbish, except for Antigrav. That game is a blast.

I've got a PS2 wheel for sale - there are a lot of good ones for the console so you might want to research if you're into racing games.

Also, why a Sony memory card? I've been using $.25 performance memory cards for years and never had a bit of trouble.

Third party memory cards are notorious for becoming corrupt and dropping saves. Though there is a rare occasion where a third party memory card is decent.

Hmm. I guess the Performance cards are the exception. Better back up that FFIV save, anyway...

I've also got a Performance PS1 Memory Card and I've got a Nyko PS2 Memory Card, neither has given me any trouble.

Yeah, I have one or two third party cards that have been decent (for different consoles) so it can happen. But as a general rule, I stay away from them now. Most of them are shit. If you open them up and compare them to first party cards, you can instantly tell they are garbage.
